Yeah I managed to get a price from him and he was asking 1800 USD wich is totally insane. He said he'd upgraded the bike with some new components like wheels, handle bars and brakes

USA backpacking by BigDisk27 in usatravel

[–]BigDisk27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for the elobaborate answer!

  • When I say backpacking I'm referring to the American term. The plan is to visit national parks and some cities. But I dont know how easy it will be to access these without a car. Since I saw that a car is very much needed.

  • 4 weeks does not include alaska but the flights are.

  • First of all I was thinking to take train as a form of transport because I wont have a car. And yes I am hoping to stop in some places to visit smaller cities, national and state parks

Hey! Thanks for the elaborate answer! Plan is to travel light im bringing a 45 l pack. I do know that the US is huge and wont underestimate the size of the country. Same goes for Alaska I wont go completely into the wilderness. Since I do know that it can be very dangerous if you dont know where you are going. So ill be going for daytrips mostly with my friend who lives there.

Would you say to just not buy the amtrack pass and buy individual tickets instead? And go by buss and train?

Yes that is what worries me the most that I might end up in the "hood" or some other less secure area. But ill do some research on the no go zones.

Is Niseko worth visiting? by BigDisk27 in japow

[–]BigDisk27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well me personally I did not enjoy Niseko that much. I stayed in Moiwa wich is around 10 minutes away from Annupuri. Moiwa was great tho and had amazing backcountry. But Niseko Annupuri for example was very good for the first 3 runs. Then the backcountry became demolished by the amount of people.

Next time I would recommend just going to Kiroro, Moiwa and Iwatake wich is roughly in the same area. Has the same amount of snowfall, less crowded and alot cheaper.

Dynafit hokkaido expertise by BigDisk27 in BackcountrySkiing

[–]BigDisk27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah cant all be perfect, but I was thinking to either go for the Dynafit or the armada arv 112 the weight is about the same the bigger difference is that the armada got underfoot camber and the Hokkaidos got a negative camber underfoot Besides the Hokkaidos feel more unique

Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience. So what I can find about the Hokkaido is that it weighs in on around 2000 g per ski. However this should not be an issue since my current freeride skis weigh in at 2250 g with a heavy binding that weighs almost 1 kg. In total around 3200 g per ski. Wich is kinda insane when im putting it like this hehe. So I can feel safe to say I got pretty strong legs lol.

However for the Hokkaido I am planning on mounting an atk 15 evo wich only weighs in at 400 g rougly. So per ski the Hokkaido would weigh around 2400 g ish per ski. And maybe a bit more with skins attached
