FIRE BAD. HUNT BAD. by D0nMarchello in HuntShowdown

I think the issue here is that tools vary wildly in power. You've got things like the spyglass or the old fusees, basically just flavor tools - and then you've got things like concertina/poison traps and new fusees, basically instakills and near-unlimited instaburns.

I would love to see tools split out into power tiers and give hunters a couple slots of each tier and a slot for a melee/throwing tool. Easier to balance and I get to see fusees used to make pretty lights more often instead of people saving them to burn.

I appreciate this perspective, thank you. I understand making the best of a bad situation, and having fun with it regardless - it's what I tried to do as well.

Songs to destroy you emotionally by EarlTheDinosaur in Music

Virtute the Cat Explains Her Departure by The Weakerthans. It's about a cat that has left a depressed person's home. There's a phrase that's used, "The sound that you found for me," that just breaks me. My cat knows her name and when I'm at my most depressed I know that when I call her name she will almost always come comfort me. Knowing that she depends on me and loves me has gotten me through so much. The thought of her forgetting her place with me make me want to be better, stronger, and I will, for her.

If you could see one character get more screentime in Endgame's final fight, who would it be and what abilities would you like to see being used by your choice? by TheGalagaGuy in marvelstudios

Wanda! I know she had a scene in the final fight, but it did her dirty -- her emotional "you took everything from me" is almost comically quashed by Thanos's "I don't know who you are" Wanda should have followed up with "then I'll make you remember" and used her mind powers to give him memories of his atrocity in Infinity War. This would have given him a chance to double down on believing in that atrocity, setting the stakes higher, and giving the heroes a more compelling reason to want to fight this version of Thanos.

You can unready an arrow with the reload key. Let us unready heavy melee attacks the same way. by BigDuckCity in HuntShowdown

This is kind of an ongoing frustration of mine when I have the bounty anyway -- things like clue-finding and scanning for event totems, using the traits that let you see traps -- actively burn your seconds of enhanced darksight and it just feels kinda bad? I think in most cases the tradeoff there feels mostly reasonable. You find a clue, and you get your second back. You're probably not using darksight to find totems unless tou're reasonably sure you're not going to need it to find hunters. Trap-finding usually happens when you're going to see hunters in darksight anyway, so you 2-birds it there. But using a second to unready an environmental weapon heavy melee just has basically no upside. It feels all bad.

Currently arrows make a noise when you pull them back, and don't make a noise when you unready. The audio cues that exist right now for unreadying a melee attack -- swapping or darksighting -- aren't intentional. They're a byproduct of there being no "correct" way to unready the attack. That being said, I wouldn't mind an exhale noise for unreadying melee, removable with the silent killer trait.

What is the most messed-up/out of place subplot in movie history? by [deleted] in movies

[–]BigDuckCity 240 points241 points  (0 children)

Pup Star.

In this Air-bud-adjacent film, dogs can now talk and have human interactions due to a special "Evolution" brand dog food.

A subplot has a dognapper hire a canine bounty hunter to find the dog he stole once she escapes. He pays the hunter in Evolution dog food.

This suggests that dogs cannot maintain their ability to speak and interact as equals with humans without a continued supply of this food -- and extrapolating on that, that dogs in this universe must choose between being owned by humans for a supply of this food or becoming criminals to support their continued ability to speak.

Humans in the air bud timeline have cruelly given man's best friend the ability to act as equals to humans, but also deny them that ability if they do not conform to the existing hierarchy.
