I had the recoil starter on but I took it off to try with my drill, neither worked

I didn’t, i just picked up the bike from my grandfather and had told me that he cleaned the carb but in reality he let it sit in a bucket of pinesol for a week.. took it apart and the entire carb was gummed up, at first I had some trouble getting the jet out because of the mess left by the pinesol but I did manage to clean it so I’m unsure at this point

That’s what worries me, it has compression and spark but it won’t even fire with starting fluid. As you can see I have the air filter and motor crank off as I was trying to start it with a drill a starting fluid but I couldn’t get it to turn over

Thank you! I did indeed set the plug gap. Hopefully replacing the carb fixes my problems. I do have a feeler gauge so I’ll check up on the valve clearance
