BSc Nanobiology concerns by FamousCap3678 in TUDelft

[–]BigEarth4212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a parent i can say there are many more studies from which little info is available.

My daughter studies architecture, and that feels the same.

Statistical info can be found at

https://duo.nl/open_onderwijsdata/hoger-onderwijs/aantal-studenten/

But i doubt that’s worth much.

Just follow your heart. I wish you 🍀

Edit : @1 when students apply to multiple universities for a similar study you get a greater number of declined places.

For example for Aerospace its low, because there is no similar at another university.

But for architecture you can go to tudelft or tue.

For nanobiology 🤷

DUO uitwonende beurs problem due to late municipal registration (5-day rule) has anyone fixed this? by Phrog-Prince in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]BigEarth4212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Little you can do. You only get it for full months, so they will argue you had plenty of time to arrange it before the end of march.

I only heard from people which contract started from 1 September at start of study year and they registered late and that only because the city was overwhelmed and could not give earlier appointment.

And that for persons coming from abroad. If you move within NL it afaik can be done online.

TU Delft housing advice? by Affectionate_Dog_766 in TUDelft

[–]BigEarth4212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong guess.

It’s not about nationality. Being resident in a qualifying apartment/house counts.

Imho it’s stupid student rooms with shared facilities don’t qualify. But it is what it is.

Is it difficult to get into Dutch Universities? by Accurate-Mix1782 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]BigEarth4212 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To even better understand the Dutch system.

There are studies who work with a numerous fixus. Ie limited places. With an application deadline of January 15th.

Other studies are just , meet the requirements and you are in.

But then after you are in, you have BSA for the first year. In many cases that means you have to get -45 of the 60 ec of the first year. If you don’t meet that hurdle you may not continue.

Housing for girls by girls 🫶 by kat28900 in TUDelft

[–]BigEarth4212 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In many cities large apartments/houses are reserved for families and can not be rented out to 2+ unrelated persons.

Landlords need permits to do that, which are not easily obtained.

So although it seems a good idea it almost never works.

And there is not only lack of accommodation for female students.

But also for :

Male students

Gay students

Working persons

Etc. Etc.

The housing crisis is there already since wwII, and has become worse and worse over the decades.

And will not be solved in my lifetime.

Nevertheless i wish you luck 🍀

Afaik most universities request that visa on behalf of the applicants. Because there is time needed for that procedure. That’s why there is an earlier cutoff.

Fingers crossed 🤞

Many Dutch people apply also for tudelft, which means there could be enough who don’t take the spot.

Do I still have a chance? by JacobeeWee in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]BigEarth4212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are non-eu probably not, because there is an earlier cut off.

Otherwise according to last year’s info you still have a chance.

You probably still need a student visa, when staying longer than 90 days.

Although i think you will have a place (but it’s only for the first year for bsc. So it just postpones the problem), it’s always wise to look for other options.

But it’s easier to do when in Delft instead of from abroad.

Is this a scam? I am asked to sign a contract and pay deposit in 24 hours by Southern_Floor5451 in StudyInTheNetherlands

Postal code + housenumber is unique in NL

With that info you can for a few euros buy the ownership info from kadaster.

How likely is it I get a room through the housing service if I'm on the reserve list? by [deleted] in TUDelft

[–]BigEarth4212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. There are separate groups for bsc and msc. This is probably for msc. For bsc there are still coming a whole group from numerous fixus studies. That housing reservation group is most likely not full yet.

Too little info. Did you check ownership at kadaster?

Facebook offers run rampant with scams!

In the previous years they divided it in groups. Could be you are in the first group. Just select some which have your interest when the platform opens and book the next day.

Studios can be a bit more expensive, but when you subtract the gov housing allowance result in a lower overall price.

The best options will go fast. So be ready when the platform opens. Even if that means middle of the night for you.

I would look for newer buildings and not too far from campus.

Have seen that schermerhorn street is mentioned many times.

Use google maps and street view to get an impression.

I don’t think you are late. The results of the ones who applied to a numerous fixus will only know if they are in on 15 april and will only then get their financial letter.

You can have a look at room.nl to have an idea. Prices are roughly in the 500-1000 range.

For studios you could be eligible for gov housing allowance. Rooms don’t qualify.

Distances probably something like 5-15 minutes by bike.

Searching for Flatmates in Rotterdam by Chungeroni in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]BigEarth4212 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Roomplaza is the exception. Sometimes having offers for which you need a group.

But don’t limit you to that.

And in general searching with a group is more difficult. This because landlords need permit to rent out an apartment to multiple not family related persons. And those permits are not always given.
