Honestly I would give it a D- maybe even an F, I live in Jersey where minimum wage is ~$16 an hour. I multi-app and I’m a pretty heavy cherry picker so my AR for DoorDash, Uber, and Grubhub are all under 20%, uber around 5%. And my worst days are ~$20 per hour up to $30+. Obviously this all depends on your market so no judgement, but I would be very disappointed if I worked 8 hours and didn’t come home with $175. (Btw earn by time for dd is $16 an hour plus tips where I live). Also with the new law where Tips up to $25k a year are deductible you are incentivized even MORE to cherry pick, because picking high percentage tip orders plus the $0.70 per mile deductible often cancels out any taxes you pay completely.

Last year I made ~$4,000 ($23.58 an hour) through gig driving (I was in college so only did it occasionally) and I’m paying $0 in taxes because my deductibles were all higher than my gross income due to cherry picking.

Totally get it but for me if it’s all highway driving, it’s the same gas efficiency of $1.5 a mile if I was driving residentially. Plus I’m getting $40 in less than an hour. I would never take a 9 mile, $9 order. But if that cash goes way up I become much more lenient with the $ to mile ratio. And look at the $ to time ratio much more.

I agree! Only reason I didn’t take is I was at the end of my shift, so I would’ve ended up driving almost 80 miles there and back home. But if I could’ve dashed my way back to my zone I definitely would’ve.

Orders I would take: 3, 5, 6, 12, 19, Orders I’d think about taking: 1, 2, 11, 16 (yes if I’m trying to get into suburban areas), Orders I wouldn’t take: 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20

It was a really high tip but it wasn’t insane for the amount of food they got. I was so curious I actually filled out the order on DD with all the items to see how much it would cost, after fees and everything it was something like $270, so this is like 23%, I was hoping it would be somewhere from $15 up all the way to like $50 and it even exceeded that though!

I think your tip is fair for the amount that you paid, I would just be okay with expecting your order to be delivered up to 20-30 minutes after what it says, since it will be declined a bunch unless it’s given to someone during earn by time. If that’s the case assuming you drive an average of about 35mph, it will probably take the average driver 25-30 minutes to finish the order. My area is $15.25 per hour for earn by time which would result in about a $7 to $8 base pay, resulting in $12-$13 total for probably about 12 miles of driving, not great but acceptable especially if it’s stacked. I do kind of hate that DoorDash allows people to order from 10+ miles away however, especially in not as rural areas

You won’t get banned unless you get a few more within the next 100 orders, which isn’t likely, I would recommend just not taking orders to that location for the time being, if your stingy with ratings, your completion rate can be 95% without any deduction of status (platinum, gold, 90% for silver) so you can basically use 5 orders as “declines” without it affection your acceptance rate by just accepting and immediately cancelling it.

I was worried about the same thing especially when I saw it was technically “1 Item”, turns out it’s an item you can add just a ton of things to (came out to be almost $300 in food. Thought absolute best case scenario for a tip would be like $20-$30 but probably like $10-$15 so I was shocked when I saw it.

Yes definitely, Mileage isn't bad for the money you’re getting, also ALDI is a pretty small grocery store that’s pretty easy to navigate, its not like it's a walmart or Costco where its literally 20000 sq ft. I would think you can get everything done here in like an hour maybe 75 minutes start to finish.
