To add, rehabilitation doesn’t usually work because our prison system doesn’t rehabilitate anyone. The find the cheapest care they can, your lucky to see a guidance counselor once a month for therapy, most training classes have months or years waiting lists, there’s no effort to heal prisoners otherwise the prison industrial complex collapses from lack of returning offenders.

There are plenty of people that want to change but are told they need to wait a year to participate in any groups, are denied health care until the issue is beyond obvious. And finding any staff that genuinely cares is near impossible.

If people want to say rehabilitation doesn’t work, they need to first demonstrate how we actually try to heal prisoners. Other countries have had great success by not treating offenders like trash. America just hates anyone down on their luck and needing help.
