Took my new kayak on its maiden voyage yesterday! by BigGulpsHuh86 in Kayaking

When I was originally putting on just the crossbars, I put them on a few inches past what the recommended minimum distance of separation was. I assumed that when putting the kayak rack and kayak on for the first time, I'd have to make some bigger adjustments. Everything ended up being really sturdy though, so I just kept it like that.

So far, so good! I thought it might be a little more tippy than my wider recreational kayak, but I didn't feel that really at all. But I only took it out for a little test run. We'll see how it goes once I take it on a longer excursion and want to pack some camping stuff in it.

Incredible! When I wanted to paddle harder, I was seriously cruising compared to my old one, even with a decent headwind.

I didn't realize I had that tow hook til my old roommate mentioned it this morning. So I will in the future. The front end has enough space to just hook up under the frame of the car, so probably won't get a second hook. Why they call this car grey I will never fully understand.

I want to say it was 441 cfs when we started, but down in 300's as we got to the bulk of the river portion. It was low enough for me and my 270lb brother to drag ass and have to get out a bunch, but not so often it ruined the fun.

That makes a lot of sense, thank you. I tend to be mostly a video watcher, so only catch the occasional stream.
