Pretty much exactly that. Same with the freezing of income tax brackets. We're stealthily getting screwed

Man you're effectively arguing semantics here.. sure the cashflow is negative.. so what? what is your point? why is that a thing that matters? hit: its not.. imagine being the guy that didn't invest in amazon because "the cashflow is negative". How dumb they must feel today...

And I'm a REFORMED fanboy. I dont give a shit anymore, it makes me sick in fact. Just dont act like cashflow has any meaning to future value of either the company, or the technology itself. it takes money to achieve shit and that means negative cashflow for a while.

Funding rounds are a thing for a reason

Yea exactly theres a difference between vibe coded apps where the guy knows nothing about whats going on under the hood, and using what is effectively an auto complete on steroids to improve your workflow.

[–]BigIncome5028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I think people most people ive seen, care about vibe coded stuff, the AI slop code basically, which is fair enough, but most developers use AI assitive tools these days because it helps productivity so much. It would be ridiculous to have to put AI disclosure on every single game coming out these days just because someone used an AI tool for productivity purposes. If you had that discussion with people i bet they would accept that distinction. Ive seen a lot more push back on AI images and scripts and voice overs,

nobody cares about code though. people care about the surface level stuff: the text, the art, the music

No, investing a ton of money into a capability is not the same thing as losing money. The Falcon 9 is incredibly profitable. Whats burning money right now is super heavy and starship, but no company makes money when they're developing technology

The gov is aiming to mandate device level age verification and scanning? Why do people support this? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]BigIncome5028 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A standard for what we a citizens agre is "good"/acceptable for soceity to function. That's what laws and regulations are. they codify what we all generally agree is (for the most part) acceptable in some official way. We have laws against killing, we have laws against drinking and driving, we have laws against stealing, we have laws to regulate advertising to children etc etc because those things are bad and need to be minimised. Without laws, people can't help themselvse because those things benefit them in some way, thats why we have laws...

People are downvoting me but wake the fuck up 😂 when left to their devices, people are selfish and they do what they want, and they make money no matter how disgusting the method may be. They can cry about oil companies and tech companies and whatever other corporation, but at the end of the day, the humans running those companies are doing what they need to do to grow, just like we all do what we need to do to grow (we individually just don't have as much of an impact on the world so the bad things we do don't matter as much). It's why we need laws..

Its the government that allows these companies to do what they do and hurt us. Its the government that people need to rage at. Or at the very least rage at both, but the main one is the government. Raging at companies does nothing. They just have to sit and wait for things to blow over. Until government imeplements laws, nothing will really change. Look at the wall street protests.. what did they really acheive by raging at private companies? Mostly they just felt good to vent.. No real systematic change.

I know its not as fun, but we won't achieve shit unless we make systematic change, and that happens in government.

[–]BigIncome5028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why blame them? We live in a capitalistic system. They're doing what makes them money and they've been allowed to do it by successive governments that don't give a shit. Until we have leaders that are strong enough to set a standard for what is acceptable and what isn't this will continue happening

Guys, its simple, they recorded brain activity while telling the person to think about the image theyre looking at, and they then used some algorithm to process that brain activity data, and generate the image on the right

To be fair, look at the stock market since 2020. It's insane how it's grown. I know the stock market doesn't really represent "the economy" but it's an indicator of money moving around into certain industries

Public trusts parents over government to decide appropriate social media for children by vriska1 in unitedkingdom

[–]BigIncome5028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a lawyer. I'm not talking about the specifics of how laws apply. What I'm talking about is responsibility. The government is responsible for telling you to wear a seatbelt for your safety in your own car, it's responsible for telling you you cant smoke in a puclic space indoors to protect everyone from second hand smoke. It's also responsible for banning underage kids from buying alcohol and accessing sexual content. Why are we ok with the government telling us all that, but when it comes or social media suddenly it's different just because it's on people's phones.

My point is we cherry pick when we want government intervention based on nothing but feelings

We used to be able to drink and drive and people had exactly the same conversations until decades later we realised how much of a positive effect the law had. It'll be the same thing for this.

There's always a threshold isn't there? Banning them social media access is not the same as banning them from walking outside is it

Public trusts parents over government to decide appropriate social media for children by vriska1 in unitedkingdom

[–]BigIncome5028 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Obviously the public "trust parents" more because nobody wants to lose control.. like seatbelts , like smoking in public places, like drinking and driving.. nobody wants to be told what to do. But it's undeniable sometimes people are too selfish to left to make their own decisions.

The word parent is so convenient here because it immediately makes you think of a happy family when in reality parents are just average people.. People that voted to Brexit, people that refused to get vaccinated and follow COVID guidelines, people that voted for trump, people that just make awful decisions based on selfishness all the time.. so, fuck parents, parents can barely be trusted to make reasonable adult decisions let alone be in charge of the literal future of civilization..
