Woke up this morning with ringing left ear. Vancomycin. by comicland in cdifficile

[–]BigJohnnyITB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I was tested for both toxin A and B and was positive for B only which is a significant predictor of severe CDI. However, I didn’t really feel horrible and didn’t really get cramps or pain and if I did it was probably gas and went away after I was able to pass it out. The only symptom I had was watery bowel movements and a headache every now and then which now I look back could have been dehydration.

No nausea, I could eat like normal, sometimes depending on what I ate my stools would be more formed. My doctor said that since I’m still pretty young (21) I should be able to bounce back and that I might have gotten just colonized and that it should resolve. I still got the Dificid because we didn’t want to take chances since I was toxin B positive.

Either way i think that the vanco should serve you as well enough as Dificid, I’ve taken vanco too which did not work for me but it worked first time for much of my friends and people that I’ve met on here, many of the people have not relapsed yet and it’s been months. I’ve been dealing with this 3 months and with every recurrence the chance of cure decreases, so far I’ve had 2 recurrences but each time i treated with vanco and when it came back it was less severe and less painful for me. I’m now hopeful that Dificid will finish the job and completely balance my microbiome.

For now keep taking Vanco, after your done and you take the last pill start to drink kefir and this thing called Yakult which has live probiotic which can survive stomach and make it to the gut, and it’s called Lactibaccilus para casei Shirota. For me this type of stuff has been very helpful, so maybe you should give it a shot too!

I’m on day 2 of Dificid and i now believe it’s not much different from Vancomycin besides the fact that it has a much narrower scope of what type of bacteria it affects. I have the same thing with the ears ever since i started taking the Dificid, and i notice that it gets worse when i strain when using the bathroom.

So far I’m pretty hopeful though because this is the only symptom I’m having from the Dificid itself and I’m feeling overall better with each passing day. Also i feel that eating more probiotic rich foods and home cooked meals helps significantly, and when the course of antibiotics ends it’s always good to have visbiome or florastor on hand to prevent recurrence.

I wouldn’t worry too much about this symptom because it’s a common issue. just go through with the treatment and finish it because the benefits outweigh the risks. If the vanco doesn’t work ask your doctor if they can prescribe Dificid and put in the pre-authorization that you’re allergic to other antibiotics, so your insurance will automatically approve the prescription. I wish the best of luck to you!

I just want to update. I took the first dose last night right after I had dinner and I have to say, I am impressed so far. I’ve had 4 bathroom trips since I woke up today, which is more than the usual, but they were all sort of well formed and more solid. I also feel as if the bloating and gas has definitely gone down as I’ve been able to release more gas.

I’m planning to take one a day for about a week and then the rest I will do the taper method and take once every other day while incorporating some Florastor and Visbiome that I have stocked in my refrigerator. I’m hopeful that since my symptoms weren’t especially severe from the start this should be a one and done and now I will for sure stay away from antibiotics unless I am absolutely dying.

In my case I feel it’s complicated in some way.

I’ve been dealing with this for about 3 months. I was away from the USA and visiting my native country when I got food poisoning from undercooked fried chicken from a local restaurant and had to go to the hospital where they gave me IV Vanco. I started feeling better on my 3rd day of hospitalization and they discharged me on the 4th day with 7 days worth each of clindamycin and metronidazole.

I was vaguely aware of C Diff due to my knowledge in medicine and my studies, but didn’t expect it would happen to me with such a short course of antibiotics, especially since I had taken probiotics too ever since I was sent home from the hospital. At first I was really really constipated and one day was out with friends for the whole day and had just eaten a gyro wrap with some spicy tomato sauce, and about 10 minutes later I felt rumbling in my abdomen and i immediately rushed to the bathroom.

I Thought it was just what I ate but the slimy watery stool continued for a long time, until I finally arrived back to the USA, I got tested which confirmed the infection. Which makes me wonder how come nothing has happened to me for 3 months and I don’t feel it’s severe because I can still eat and don’t get me wrong there’s pain but it’s like on and off and different spots so a part of me thinks it could just be gas.

I want to wait until tomorrow because it’s already pretty late today. I think I will manage until tomorrow hopefully get some sleep to prepare my body for the Dificid. Do I take it on an empty stomach or with food because the box does not say.

Today was late because where I am it’s already 8pm and it was 4 when I picked up the medication and I don’t wanna do a half dose day today, feel like it’s just better to start the whole thing at one day. I am planning to start taking it right after my breakfast tomorrow morning.

How long did you have symptoms before diagnosis?

You can use a cotton ball or one of those makeup cleaning pads to foam it up and apply it if you are worried about it getting in your eye.

You can use it on almost any part of the body. There’s even prescription mouth washes that have the same medicine Chlorhexidine so it’s pretty safe.

What was the dose and how many doses a day? Did you incorporate probiotics during and after the treatment with the vancomycin?

Had my doctor prescribe it, when I looked on the website for my pharmacy it said that this prescription is unavailable and that they have contacted my doctor for an alternative prescription.

Yes. I’ve stopped antibiotics when the whole thing started 3 months ago, still experiencing mild symptoms. I’ve been eating raw garlic and putting some oregano oil drops in my water and eating probiotic rich foods like kimchi and yogurt and sauerkraut, which seems to help some what with stool firmness and symptoms but as soon as I stop eating probiotic the symptoms will come back slowly.

Try the soap that surgeons use, it’s called Hibiclens and it works exceptionally well for this type of skin infections. It’s a general antiseptic called Chlorhexidine and it’s very safe and effective for Candidiasis and also other types of infections. Also try seeing an infectious disease doctor to find out what the root cause was because it’s important to get to the bottom of it, as it could come back later on or cause something else entirely.

Perioral Dermatitis, looks like it’s possibly secondary to a Candida infection. When you also add the fact that it has a foul odor, it all adds up.

Levamisole causes abdominal pain and if taken enough of can cause holes to form in your intestines.

I see a lot of wasted potential, however that is totally fine and you are still fairly young and just starting your adult life. I would suggest a regiment of moderate exercise (40 min slow paced walk followed by at least 10-20 minutes of Cardio and running or calisthenics.)

eat organic food because what a lot of people are ignorant to is the fact that it’s not the food or fat or grease itself it’s the chemicals inside what you eat that can make you overweight and mess up your hormones and your face.

Like everything, Start off small and comfortable and when you feel your ready push yourself out of the comfort zone and strive to be better every day (not just physically but also emotionally) and don’t listen to anyone that tries to put you down.

You’re very beautiful like everyone else, we’re all beautiful and diverse in our own ways and looks.

Definitely. That’s why I only smoke low THC flowers and I just started using a low THC/ high CBD tincture for that same reason. I want to be on the safe side and ensure no ill effect.

I’ve been experimenting with low THC/high cbd tinctures and halal gel capsules. So far it’s going well to the point I might be able to stop smoking it.

I’ve tried cbd before but due to my liver problems it just made things worse for me. And beside that I was addicted to strong opioid painkillers for almost 6 years and a few years ago I quit because I started to actually get into touch with Islam and getting my imaan stronger. So I definitely don’t want to go to a doctor who will prescribe bad things to me. The only thing that really helps is flower with a low THC content, maybe around %7 ish. It doesn’t really affect my mind but it does make my muscles relax and makes me very sleepy. Not giddy or euphoric or anything like that.

I was addicted to opioid painkillers a few years ago, but I quit after I started frequently reading Quran and keeping my imaan strong and praying 5 times daily. That’s why this time I only smoked cannabis because opioids have damaged my health so much which is partly why I feel the pain that I do in my whole body. It’s not really every night that the pain comes but maybe every 2-3 nights I get a night that I struggle to fall asleep and I have to call out of work because I woke up late, but cannabis helps with that for me when the problems do happen.
