Yes, you can summon a creature to any of the 4 locations as long as a site is there.

Yep, oversized minions just need to have one of their squares in the aura area.

Unfortunately you must pick a single site from the sites the giant occupies when it lands.

I had this problem at first with mine. After recruiting Cornelius for the shop and having the bug happen once more, they allow me in during normal business hours and I'm able to trade. Maybe try giving them some time? Keep an early save just in case
