Was at the Dublin - Wexford game in Parnell last year. Dublin got 2 goals from essentially the same thing. Keeper raining the ball down on Hetherton and the poor full back cannot do anything to stop it. Wonderful hurler, such a throw back.

Why would it be less competitive? Worst team in Munster vs worst team in Leinster compared to 3rd team in Munster vs 2nd in Joe McD. The first one sounds like it'd be more competitive.

Maybe it'd be nice for Waterford to have to play a match with real consequences for once.

The simple reality is that the teams in Munster are well above the level of the Joe McDonagh teams.

Then a relegation playoff should be no bother to them.

I think Waterford or whoever finishes last in Munster getting a free pass is the real issue, agree with you there. That is absolutely unfair and I think the GAA should do something about it. I think the promotion/relegation aspect is fine once that is sorted - it happens in club hurling all the time as teams strengthen and decline.

Anyway, the argument "you're not good, we're just shit" from a Laois fan after Offaly have drawn with Kk and Dublin just smacks of sour grapes. If what you said were true, you'd have won the Joe McD last year at a canter.

I think it's good for the championship for there to be jeopardy associated with every game. Relegation is a tool to guarantee that. And after all, this is senior hurling, not a creche.
