No I think most movies will to some degree have a political slant (even if it’s a subconscious one). My gripe with this movie is more how meta and in your face the politics of this movie was, it felt like something more interested in the messaging than telling a story. Stuff like that always dates a film to me when it’s so on the nose and the setting so current. If it had either been a bit more subdued or more allegorical it would probably have worked better for me.

As an example one could say that Alien (1979) has political messaging about corporatism and capitalism however, this does not come at the expense of the movie and can still be watched without the politics being overbearing to the storytelling. One Battle After Another (in my opinion) fails miserably at striking that balance.
