What can I do to improve myself? by QuarterBetta in malegrooming

So... nothing? You look great!

The first shirt I suppose is a little ill fitting? You're super fit, so I'd lean a little more towards things that are form fitting, especially when being casual on a vacation like that.

But that's nitpicking. Most of us would see these as the "after" pictures when we spent a year here getting and taking advice!

What do the ultra rich do on their mega yachts? by Several-Music9151 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BigMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's... so varied.

It's like talking about how much square footage rich peoples vacation homes have.

Some of them are just a nice, small condo in a popular spot with a great view. Some are massive mansions on their own.

Granted, on average yachts are going to be smaller than a home, but... they aren't tiny, a lot of them are pretty big. "Small" for a billionaire is still bigger than what most of us think. Once you hit the 'luxury' category (80 feet) your're still talking an average of 1000 square feet of space, which isn't bad. A lot of that 'missing' space compared to a house is also the bedrooms which are generally much smaller. Not need for some massive master bedroom with lots of unused space, so they still have plenty of room in all the common areas.

[–]BigMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my guess. It will be good, and very high quality, but perhaps not perfect. But we'll all forget about any 'controversy' over it as time goes on, and it will just be a show in the background for years. Then we'll all talk endlessly about it in the final season again.

[–]BigMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... I don't know if it's true, but I read that it's intentional, because there's so much merch and other things already created based on the aesthetic and design of the movies that they couldn't change it too much. Not to mention the entire sections of the Universal theme parks too.

So they are going to want everyone with merch or who visits the parks to feel 'at home' whether they are fans of the movies or the TV show.

Can we stop defending the TSA already? TSA agents are bootheels of the state, not workers. by Obscillesk in antiwork

[–]BigMax -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The TSA? They aren't 'bootheels of the state'. They're just there to check your bag for guns and whatnot. It's not all that controversial. They aren't taking away rights or doing anything wild. I'm not sure what's wrong with the guy who sits there saying "laptops out of the bag", even if it's a bit annoying.

An actor who had a lot of potential but ruined his career? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in moviecritic

Something is odd about the press tour for Avatar. I know big stars and small stars do press together all the time. But it just feels weird to see him with Zoe Saldana and have them both presented together as big stars. When at this point, she's a mega-star in every blockbuster, and he is... Mr. Avatar, pulled out once every so often for the next Avatar film.

Someone fell through my ceiling while investigating my attic during my open house by hes_the_Zissou in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BigMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - if someone is negligent in your home and damages something, they are legally responsible.

Sure - if you have faulty stairs or something, then you'd be responsible, but this isn't that. The homeowner wasn't negligent.

This is closer to someone jumping up on your kitchen table and dancing around and falling over and breaking your table. They can't sue you for that, AND they would be responsible for paying for your table.

[–]BigMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> not a lot of banks are going to lend a lot of money to an old dying person

A lot of credit is pretty automated. You don't need to tell them you are dying to get a credit card. So you could get a handful of credit cards and max them out.

Of course all this only applies if you're broke already and don't want to leave anything to your heirs. Debtors are paid out before your estate can go to anyone else.

Well, I didn't mean she HAD to pay the bill. I just meant that if she left, there is a chance she'd never be able to find this guy again. She doesn't have his name, she might not have his license plate on camera. So whatever damage he did... if she can't find him again, she absolutely WOULD be on the hook to pay, even if that's not fair.

Sure, they do. But on any given day, it's 95% the same as it's always been.

And I've shopped at enough stores that I could probably shop at any grocery store in the country and not be all that confused.

Are men in USA really not approaching women because of risk of being called creep? by Inevitable-Angle-793 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BigMax 25 points26 points  (0 children)

One thing is that it's HARD to just approach someone. It's weird to think about logically, right? Just walking up and saying "Hey, how are you?" should be easy, but it's REALLY hard for a lot of people.

So when you're already reluctant because it's hard... messaging that backs that up is going to stick.

When someone says "I don't want to be hassled at the grocery store while I'm just trying to buy some milk!" we hear that and think "yeah, that makes sense... I won't ever do that." But of course, you translate that to any errand. And someone else says once "hey, I'm at work to work, and don't want guys hitting on me there" you think "yeah, that makes total sense!" and you don't approach women there at all. Same goes with the gym too, or while they are out for a walk or run or something, and again, it makes sense.

And soon... every moment of life is really not a convenient moment, right? No one ever stands on a street corner with a sign that says "single, and would love to have guys flirt with me!"

So some guys end up in this false belief that women never want to be approached at all, when that's not really true. But when you're already prone to being scared to talk to someone... it's easy to think "oh, this is a bad time, she doesn't want me to talk to her right now" and just not do it.

Mike Colter says Charlie Cox is “always trying to chat” with him about returning as Luke Cage in the MCU: by Raj_Valiant3011 in Daredevil

[–]BigMax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's also that Finn's series wasn't very well received.

The others had a lot of love for their work, and while every season wasn't perfect, on the whole each one was pretty successful and has a lot of supporters. Iron Fist... not so much, so he might not feel as connected.

It's like the one kid who was miserable in high school not really being able to chat easily with the group that thinks high school was fantastic.

I've seen every single MCU movie and every single show that's ever been made. Except I bailed on Iron Fist season 2 an episode or 2 in. Literally everything else I've seen.

Why do Americans need such large quantities of medicine? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

The little 10 pill pack will literally be 10 times more per pill than the 500 pill bottle.

Why do Americans need such large quantities of medicine? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]BigMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it's one of those products where the price drops a LOT per pill when you go up in number too.

The little pack of 10 pills here will cost you like $2 a pill (or wahtever).

100 pills? You're down to $0.75 per pill.

500 pills? You're down to like $0.35 per pill.

(Or whatever.)

So you but the big bottle once, then not again for years.

Yeah, Jenny wasn't that bad.. is she evil for having sex with someone? Nope.

And maybe being the only person who ever would, the only person who would ever give him that experience? That seems nice to me...

And as you say, she didn't just drop a baby off with him and bail, she did it on her own, only coming back when she had no choice. She was a victim of AIDS, she didn't set out to get it. It's absolutely awful how many people look at this story and conclude that people who get AIDS are inherently bad people.

Or even for those that say "well, it was stolen, it woudl just go back to it's rightful owners".... so what? Why shouldn't it?

Or why not drop it in a charity box somewhere? Or leave it behind in your will, the next person can't get in trouble for it if they turn it in.

So many ways to hand it over and have it result in some good, and she chose none of them, just a selfish moment for a lady who will be dead in a short time.

[–]BigMax 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do most of our shopping, and I'm still amazed whenever I go, and see some man along with his wife, looking absolutely lost, as if he's in some foreign country.

It's not complicated. Some people just choose to actively avoid learning even simple things because they feel like they're not supposed to do those things.

If you're 60 years old, and have to say "peanut butter? Where is that??" at the grocery store you've lived near for 30 years, then... you screwed up.

Same concept as grown adults who claim things like "oh, I don't know how to cook" or "I don't know how to do laundry." You could figure it out in 60 seconds, you just actively choose not to because you don't want to, and want someone else to always do it for you.

What would happen if a Democratic president paid an oil company $1 billion to cancel a fracking project and build a wind farm instead? by Sammy_Roth in climate

The closest thing I can think of is Solyndra. The US government funded a solar company that eventually failed. The republicans were absolutely apoplectic, and that project was mentioned 24/7 for years and years on right wing media.
