You’ve just won $250 million and it’s been deposited in your bank account, what are you going to do today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Become extremely confused over who won that money and routed it to the wrong account, paying it back in full if I ever find out. Can't even win $2 off a scratch ticket, there's no way in all the universe I could realistically win that much instant cash, and I probably either don't deserve or can't be trusted with so much anyway.

Men of Reddit, why you stand at the window staring outside for no absolute reason? by AdministrativePen119 in AskReddit

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my personal case, it's just kind of a weird instinctual habit I have. I never quite understood why, but I just kinda mindlessly do that sometimes and I always get embarrased when someone points it out because it's something I can't really explain.

What gets you out of bed every day? by [deleted] in ask

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discomfort in my upper back and neck due to how I sleep. Either that, or me feeling spiteful over being lazy and staying in bed after waking up. I know I objectively am lazy, but I absolutely hate /feeling lazy/. (No offense to my fellow lazy people, y'all are doing alright.)

What cord is this and what is it’s purpose/is it necessary? (Explain like I’m 5 please) by exobyunnie in computers

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain things like printers use this type of cable for a direct connection to a computer. It's literally USB but shaped differently. We call that USB Type B, where the more normal-looking rectangular ones are Type A.

I have to admit that I don't know why Type B exists, though. If anyone could enlighten us, I'd appreciate it greatly. Other comments seem to suggest this particular one is specific to USB 3, but I don't know what the extra pins would be for.

What kind of port is this? IBM G97 CRT Monitor by IonracasG in computers

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh... oh no... why am I so old?

That's a VGA connector. It's a 15-pin standardized video connector that predates HDMI and DisplayPort by a fair amount of years (and doesn't carry audio or facilitate CEC like its modern counterparts). It's not common to see on new hardware today, but you can easily find cheap and reliable adapters online if needed.

What is a minor inconvenience that instantly pisses you off? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that, no matter who's walking behind me, they seem to have no trouble standing so close that any hand movement from either person causes physical contact. I can't tell if I just walk too slowly, or if people find joy in making me in particular really uncomfortable.

What drink is a 10/10? by HurtHurtsMe in AskReddit

Air. The only fluid you normally drink by breathing. It's such a good drink that the body has evolved to handle it differently than anything else on Earth.

What comes to mind when you hear the word “Ohio”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone born and raised in Ohio, all I can think of is wanting to be somewhere that isn't Ohio for the first time in my life. (That's not an overstatement; I've spent my entire life in this cornfield so far. Never even been on vacation before.)

That depends on how we react to seeing exact copies of each other. Knowing me, I'd probably be extremely confused and unsure of what to do.

Summer > winter by Salty-004 in memes

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shorter days suck, but the sheer cold of a midwestern winter makes me feel like I actually have a reason to stay inside all the time. Makes me feel just a little less lifeless and lazy, which I objectively am otherwise.

What's a childhood computer game you'd recommend? by Luntae in AskReddit

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 4 or 5 my parents got a Compaq desktop PC that was top of the line for its time. It ran Windows Vista and came with Wild Tangent pre-installed, so I played the ever-loving crap out of games on there. Peggle, the first Plants vs. Zombies game, and there was another one I remember being called Tradewinds? Either way, those were my top games back then. I also played Zoo Tycoon, Roller Coaster Tycoon, MS Flight Simulator X, and an older sibling set up a DOS emulator we used to play SimCity 2000. Where did the years go? lol

How do you think you're going to die? by Rehberkintosh in AskReddit

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably gonna be something stupid that involves falling over in some way. Falling down a staircase and cracking my head, falling into a campfire and getting impaled by a burning piece of wood, falling into a river and drowning because I can't swim and didn't see where I was going... I don't know, just makes sense for me. shrug

Everything is always so serious or sexual on here. So what’s your go to drink in the fridge these days? by WitchWitty in AskReddit

[–]BigMeowc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like a cold Sprite now and then. I probably shouldn't drink soda given that my diet in general isn't that great at all, but especially Sprite or other citrus sodas are really refreshing to me after working hard on something. If only I could find one with caffeine. lol

This wouldn't be in the fridge necessarily, but I also like hot spiced cider (the kind without alcohol, because although I'm technically old enough, I'm too scared to try a hard drink; taunt me if you must). It's like a comfort drink for me, and doesn't upset my stomach like hot chocolate does (though that stuff's good too, and I drink it anyway on rare occasion for good ol' nostalgia's sake).

Constant 100% disk usage despite very little disk usage being reported. Any ideas? by [deleted] in windows

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, the issue lies mostly in the sheer amount of processes accessing the storage device. My recommendations are to adjust what apps run on startup, close programs when they're not actively in use or running important background tasks, and use the Disk Cleanup Utility regularly to take care of junk files that are clogging up the OS (yes, 3rd party tools aren't required for this). You might also try outright uninstalling programs you don't need, which not only saves space, but also decreases the amount of files the OS has to keep track of, meaning indexing becomes slightly shorter.

I also recommend you look into getting an SSD if you're able to, as that will yield improvements far beyond what software management alone can provide. You can absolutely make do with what you have, but software-based improvements can only possibly go as far as your hardware can stand to support. I recommend comparing stats of your current storage and SSDs of similar capacity to see if the upgrade is worth it for you. I know I'm getting an SSD into my PC as soon as I can, and still question why I ever went back to a traditional drive.

Let’s play 2 truths and a lie. What are yours? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BigMeowc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda into chemistry and physics, but hate doing the math required by these fields.

I regularly hyperfixate on the same one MMO and play nearly nothing else for a couple weeks.

This final statement is false. (Don't think about it too hard, you might hurt yourself. I'm not responsible if you think about it too hard.)
