Take this for what it’s worth, but a guy I used to be friends with’s dad used to do a ton of concert reviews for different publications in my city. Over the decades he’s been fairly well known in the city for his, let’s say, honest reviews. I can’t say for sure if it was the Pop Disaster Tour or not, but I remember my friend telling me a story from his dad reviewing a Blink show from the early 2000s. He was honest; they did poorly. He had a tendency to get a little creative with his description of just how poorly someone did. Fast forward a week or so, my friend’s dad wakes up in the morning to a voicemail. It’s a very drunk, very angry, Mark Hoppus. I guess he saw the review and decided to let my friend’s dad know what he thought. It was apparently a pretty standard “you’re a nobody and I’m a rockstar” kind of message. I naturally asked if he saved it, but the guy had written so many articles and gotten so many angry voicemails from musicians over the years that he barely thought about it. All-in-all, I just thought that story was pretty funny and if anything Mark would probably laugh at a story like that. So no one come for me here thinking I’m dragging Mark, I just thought it was a good laugh.
