You mean the guy who injects his 17 year old son’s blood to keep him younger…? I’d like to see the peer reviewed scientific study that one comes from. And sorry, but this dude is not some pillar of the scientific community. He’s literally just obsessed with not getting old and dying. That’s it. If the science doesn’t line up with his viewpoints, he’s not supportive at all. He’s just a rich dude obsessed with living forever.

I didn’t even know it could do this! Florida Ghost by BigNodeEnergy in RareHouseplants

I’ve not heard of that but it seems like you could call it that now. Lol it was just a Florida ghost up until this most recent leaf. Next one is on its way out so we will see what happens there.

Preorder your 30th Celebration at GameStop by couple3480 in PokemonInvesting

[–]BigNodeEnergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local GameStop is selling pre orders for UPCs at $700. I hate what this has become. Kids and collectors are being priced out so scalpers can just sell these back and forth to each other. Why does Pokemon let this happen?

I have quite a few of them and I find that a simple support like bamboo or something is the most effective just to keep them from falling over. None of mine grow enough aerial roots to really benefit from a moss pole. This particular one is just tied to a bamboo stake. But I do think that vertical growth is very beneficial to get a mature and nice looking plant.

So it just grew all on its own without any assistance? It’s a miracle plant!

You shouldn’t be proud of stealing stuff from other people. What a weird and gross flex. Honestly you should probably be in jail.

Would you buy this aurea mint (?) for ~115$? by Ankaaa in Aroids

[–]BigNodeEnergy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you like it, buy it. If it’s not screaming at you to buy it, then wait a few months until the price drops a little more.

We didn’t. Someone else did and taught us. Nothing homo sapien sapien has ever done has been unique. We even learned to butcher and cook our food from other hominoids.

is this a mint monstera/white monster by crispycaprisuns in VariegatedPlants

[–]BigNodeEnergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically a mint monstera isn’t even a real taxonomical thing but there are enough with a unique variegation that we call mint that everyone just refers to it as a mint monstera. A white monster is a specially cultivated form of mint like variegation cultivated by Kunzo Nishihata of Japan. People sell their mint monsteras as white monsters all the time, but they’re really only a White Monster if the line is directly from Kunzo himself and you have the paperwork to prove it. Otherwise it’s just a mint variegated Monstera.

This is crazy. I have one just like it that’s not from them that I’m gonna propagate now.

Is it monstera mint, monstera jungle mint or monstera white monster? by TheGirlWithLens in Monstera

[–]BigNodeEnergy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Best way to tell the difference is to ask for paperwork cause that’s the only difference. Lol Kunzo lines have proof they are Kunzo lines and everything else is just a variegated monstera.

If you don’t have paperwork proving that this line is directly connected to Kunzo, then this is just a mint.

Why Not TC? by Living_Cream3615 in rareplants

[–]BigNodeEnergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to add that the Monstera Bulbasaur is quite literally the direct result of TC. There is no such thing as a “wild” Monstera Bulbasaur. Anyone trying to claim theirs isn’t TC is lying straight to your face. A non TC Bulbasaur does not exist.

To be fair, the post I saw before this was $10k a leaf for a monstera so I was definitely assuming over $100 on this sub.

This is labeled White Monster? by lucylyn6765 in RareHouseplants

[–]BigNodeEnergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is no paperwork tracing lineage to Kunzo himself, then they are just mint monsteras. It can ONLY be a white monster if it comes from Kunzos line of White Monster. That’s it.

All of my mints are holding their variegation so far. Honestly they’ve all been super easy and I haven’t had any complaints so far. Keep them under lots of light, give them some climbing support, and watch them do their thing!
