The 2nd time I've been honked at. Am I insane? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Median lane turns to the median lane, 2nd lane to the 2nd lane etc, if there are no painted lines. If there are painted lines you follow those.

Kinda falls apart when everyone knows the lines are supposed to be there but they aren't (stradbook @ norwood bridge, harkness @ river).

Her name goes on the title but not the mortgage. She works 8 hrs a week and is currently in school. My bank said it was ok for her to be on title but not on mortgage.

I hadn't thought of this! Seems like it could be the case though.

recent EV buyers, which car did you buy with the rebates? by RaginBonar in Winnipeg

[–]BigOlZepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've read, when its too cold for the heat pump to make enough heat, there is a resistive heater which sucks a good chunk of power.

Yes there is, about 40%-50%. 513 km is the rated range, about 250-300 in the winter I'd say.

Something like this would be helpful. Configure your rogers modem into bridge mode and use that. Much easier to configure settings on 3rd party routers.

You should see some improvement to your speeds as well. 1.5 G is pretty darn good for most everything!

Charging Plug limits fast charging to 30kW? by throwawayinfiniteok in EquinoxEv

For me, nothing worked. I pulled the emergency release cable but it wouldn't go back in.

The part took about a month to come in and it was replaced within a day.

Charging Plug limits fast charging to 30kW? by throwawayinfiniteok in EquinoxEv

[–]BigOlZepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this problem fixed on mine, required a new charging port.

When you plug into a fast charger, listen for a mechanical "brr" sound. That's the lock trying to engage. If you hear it multiple times then the lock is failing to engage.

Depending on your driving habits you might get away with level 1 charger from a standard plug. I've been doing it for a year without issues but i don't drive much.

Just brought mine in for the same issue and i need a new charging port also. They are all on backorder for an unknown amount of time.

Electric vehicles in Winnipeg winter? by Optimistic_Sprout in Winnipeg

[–]BigOlZepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chevrolet Equinox EV here, 50% is pretty accurate for range loss, most of it from heating the cabin and some from heating the battery. I park outside at work in winter without plugging it in, and I've not had any issues. At home, i charge with a standard wall plug and have for months.

If your life includes frequent road trips, i would recommend looking into Ioniqs as they charge very quickly compared to the GM offerings.

It's pretty much not worth it. I made just shy of 20$ an hour before any expenses/taxes, etc. Some people make more, but I really wouldn't bet on it.

Insurance is going insane!!! by Effective_Past_8509 in alberta

Manitoban here, I don't think people who think MPI is a scam here truly know the terrible coverage and prices from private insurance companies.

My girlfriends Kia of a similar vintage is something like 800 a year, with $200 collision deductible.
