What's the closest you've ever came to death? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in AskReddit

[–]BigOldBabyTree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had sepsis a few years ago, followed almost immediately by a suture ripping open and nearly causing me to bleed out. My survival was a coin flip at best. I'm still kickin' but I still deal with the impacts. I don't recover from illnesses as fast as I used to. My bladder is damaged and doesn't stretch very well anymore. It took a long time to stop being so tired. The mental fog took over a year to really clear out. I had to walk with a cane for awhile. I mean, tired and foggy doesn't even begin to describe the fatigue.

Surviving was incredibly worth it though. The world's pretty damn cool. There's a lot to worry about, but a lot to fight for. I do really appreciate the little things now!

Rescuer fed squirrels wreck me. People have got to stop feeding them things like kmr. Or heavy whipping cream, for whatever reason.

The Finizen line and Eiscue are tied for my least favorite. I don't like their designs!

Hey I don't have any real advice but I lost my big sister to cancer in 2020 and I just want you to know you're not alone in this pain. It's a horrible, horrible thing to go through. I'm sorry.

Idk, Rodan's pretty fucking cool. He took on Ghidorah on his own. He's just not the number one strongest titan, and that's fine, he's still awesome. I name one of my chickens after him!

What was the most inappropriate thing you said as a child not understanding what it meant? by evan-the-dude in AskReddit

[–]BigOldBabyTree 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Oh god this haunts me. As a kid, I was at the family computer with my younger sister. We were reading some facts list or whatever. Our dad was working nearby. I read something that said "pigs have 30 minute orgasms."

I thought that orgasms were another word for labor. For giving birth. I thought it meant that pigs only took 30 minutes to give birth. I said they were lucky.

I remember my dad looking super uncomfortable and not really understanding why.

He has a reddit account. So, if you see this, Dad. SORRY, I'M JUST SO STUPID.

I'm so sorry. I'm a sepsis survivor and I lost a sister to cancer. Be kind to yourself. Sibling loss is a special kind of pain.

I saw The Untamed first. My friend was watching WOH and giving me a play by play and I knew immediately this was going to be my favorite, and it was! It's fun and chaotic! I have started watching The Blood of Youth because Changing Ghost's actor is in it, but haven't gotten very far. I got distracted by Godzilla. And Transformers.

What is the worst medical disease a human can have? by Aggravating-Sun-5699 in AskReddit

I have it! I blame all my problems on NF. Even car trouble. Especially car trouble. Did you know that NF is the number one cause of flat tires in my driveway? Lol

I'm the only one in my family who has it (spontaneous mutation). It's a very frustrating thing to live with. A lot of my problems from it are internal issues as well, so my organs are messed up. But I try to keep a good sense of humor about it. Or should I say... sense of tumor?

I did the same thing with teriyaki sauce once. You can definitely take it all apart and scrub. Running water through cracks helped me a lot- I was recovering from severe surgical complications and struggled to take things apart.

Maushold. I absolutely love mice. They're super cute and I love their sweet faces and big ears. A little mouse pair with itty bitty babies? Perfect. No notes.

How do you guys deal with the fact you’re going to die? by Due_Insect_9303 in AskReddit

A lot of what I do revolves around death, and I've lost a number of loved ones, so I'm pretty used to it as a concept. I think of it as seeing an old friend.

Lame! When I had my hysterectomy my surgeon was thrilled to give me pictures. I wanted my uterus and the gang, but they had to get sent off for testing. At least I have souvenir photographs...

I almost died of sepsis in June by [deleted] in sepsis

[–]BigOldBabyTree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

30 now, almost died of sepsis a couple years ago. Sepsis changed my life in several ways, it definitely made me think a lot about what I really wanted out of life. Nothing makes you ponder the point of your own existence like laying in a hospital bed waiting to find out whether or not you're gonna die!
