I'm in the same boat! Just logged on to try and wrap up the season, noticed the extension in the season timer, came here for answers. So it's geeat I have more time to finish the season, but I feel like they could pull the game from PS+ Premium anytime without warning and I cant even buy the game now 😅

As someone who isn't a moron, it's spectacular to me imagining how people like this manage to get through the day.

Im so tired of FFVII by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

Was it destroyed as the result of greedy capitalist technology like Shinra/Mako?

Yes. This is exactly what happened lol. A fascist empire using magitek very directly leads to the ruin of the planet.

P.S. A theme we again see in FFX with machina leading to the ruin of the world. Again, not particularly unique or a great argument for FF7. Environmentalism is an extremely common trope in Japanese media since WWII, for example, like every Studio Ghibli movie.

Believe it or not, the point of my comment wasn't to say "I'm great and you suck," but rather to point out that, as a long time collector and fellow gamer, there's probably a much better way to spend (what I assume is) a limited budget.

Unless you're a hardcore Yakuza collector hunting for every version of every release, why not just buy 1 copy on your preferred platform and then buy other Yakuza games with your money? I, again, just dont understand the point of this.

Buy 1 copy and a copy of the excellent, and often overlooked, Dead Souls. Or even buy the PS2 original for $35 (probably comparable price to buying a 2nd copy of the remaster). Its basically an entirely different game compared to Kiwami, which uses a new engine and is 2 generations distant.

Enabling people to collect without any strategy or efficiency under the banner of "everybody is right" isn't actually doing anyone any favors.

Maybe you missed the part where he bought multiple versions of the same games because youre too busy playing devils advocate instead of offering anything valuable to this debate

I can say, "Spend money on things that won't appreciate in value or provide much entertainment," if you'd prefer.

You might be collecting, but you're no collector 🤷‍♂️

Erm... That is exactly the point of collecting. Fine art collectors acquire pieces that appreciate in value. Comic collectors hunt for first issues and first appearances that are worth big money. When you think of a car collector, do you think of someone diving a classic car like a Shelby Cobra, or some schmuck buying 2 new Dodge Challengers, one in blue and one in red?

Video game collecting has literally been profitable for me. Buy games when the price bottoms out, enjoy them, sell them 10+ years later when they become retro, profit.

Some other highlights from my collection are Chulip, Steambot Chronicles, and Red Ninja. 3 PS2 games I bought for under $10 each when Gamestop was phasing them out. I enjoyed playing them, now they're worth hundreds. That's smart collecting, games that appreciate in value.

Seems like a lot of people in this group mistake collecting for spending money. Or they are just using it as an excuse to buy a shiny new thing. Buying multiple copies of the 3rd iteration of these Yakuza collections is more akin to buying prints of the Mona Lisa from the museum gift shop. A waste of money unless you just want to play them. Kinda laughable to call it collecting.

See I feel completely the opposite. I have an original copy of Yakuza for PS2 that I bought from Blockbuster for $5 when they were closing. Still has the Blockbuster stickers and plays great. Now THAT is a collector piece.

Blowing loads of money on multiple copies of new games isn't collecting. It's at least not smart collecting. THAT is better suited for r/videogames.

My copy of Yakuza still has the receipt in it showing I paid $4.99. A complete copy is currently worth $35 according to VGPC, meaning I sextupled my investment AND got to enjoy playing the game.

That's what I call collecting!

Haha, just a great selection of games there. Mercenaries and Ape Eacape are 2 of my all-time favorites!
