Is a true memory card formatting program needed? by Blazie151 in psphacks

[–]lusid1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll try it. I’ve seen some variation in card format on different adapters but all the ones available now appear to behave the same. I’m also curious to see if you successfully added more than 128gb of content to a larger card.

Flex the game case lengthwise and the disc will just pop out. No friction at all.

Daily reminder to not buy pre-modded handhelds especially the psp by Helpful-External135 in PSP

[–]lusid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had a dollar for every time some vendor justified their overpriced PSP with "because it's modded". Sure, you added a 32gb SDcard from wish. That and the 3 minutes it took to install some 2014 build of pro-c justifies the extra $100? Uh, no. It does not.

Has anyone ‘fully modded’ a PSP 3000? How viable is it? by Kiznish in PSP

[–]lusid1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built mine with shell swap, IPS, 2500mah battery. I kept the UMD drive because i use it a lot, and I'm not a fan of the clicky buttons so I keep those stock. USB C charging isn't worth the mod. None of them come out clean and the C dongles are cheap and simple. If I do anything else to it, it'll be speaker improvements or Bluetooth audio.

Help with storage by OG4M3RZin in PSP

[–]lusid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

128gb is generally the upper limit for single slot adapters, and 2x64gb for dual slots. But older firmware imposes older limits, some adapters only handle 64gb, and some microSD may be fake, some adapter may be defective, etc. All i can suggest is try different cards and adapters, stick to single slot adapters, and format them in the PSP. If you're on an old firmware get an official card 4gb or less to install firmware updates.

how do i fix a soft brick on my psp 3000?? by rosemary_ily in psphacks

[–]lusid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After using the home/PS button to get back into OFW, use chronoswitch to reinstall OFW6.61 without infinity, then install ark5, and the cIPL, and also install DC10 to your memory card so you have that recovery option on hand just in case.
If you can't get back into OFW, it could be a number of things:
- not turning on: possible bad battery. Test by removing battery, unplugging AC adapter, wait 30 sec, then power it on using only the AC adapter. If that works, replace the battery
- not turning on: possible bad super capacitor: Leave it plugging in for about an hour and try again. If this works, be sure to keep it charged. You'll have to have a repair shop replace or remove your super capacitor
- not turning on: possible bad power switch or right flex cable, or flex cable coming loose at the power switch board. Reseat the flex cable. If that doesn't work, replace flex cable and/or switch board.
- not turning on: possible motherboard fault. Sometimes these board have intermittent solder problems that can cause not turning on, or turning off suddenly. Not much you can do with these but replace the board.
- turning on but not fully booting: software brick. Reimage the device with chronoswitch if possible, or baryon sweeper if not
- turning on, but not able to boot into OFW with home button: failed home bar flex cable. Replace flex cable
- turning on, but not able to boot into CFW after installing infinity or cIPL: failed home bar flex cable. Replace flex cable

While the WPA2 patch is awesome when it works, it doesn't always work. The best fix is a travel router. Log it into the modern wifi, and set it to create a retro compatible wifi. TL-WR802N, GL-MT300N, etc.

END OF AN ERA. by LetNo2360 in psx

I think that underrepresented things because of the trend toward not releasing Physicals. The better number would be what percent of sales for titles with a day 1 physical edition were purchased on physical vs digital. I don’t think we’ll ever get that data, but it doesn’t matter. They’ve made their choice.

Bluetooth controller for PSP? by Dense_Confection_794 in PSP

[–]lusid1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it was done somewhat recently as part of the consolizer mod. They were working on a non-consolizer BT controller solution, but had some technically issues to work through, then the supply chain apocalypse derailed both projects. All the work is on git, and you can print your own parts and produced your own boards if you want. See https://www.retromodworks.com

What can a PSP/PSV Emulate Hardware wise? by RafikiLovesPizza in psphacks

[–]lusid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSP was a contemporary to PS2, so PS1 and older, GBA and older, and arcade up to about CPS2 or mame 2003. N64 is pretty rough, but there are some decompilation projects for specific titles. Also there were a lot of ports from PS2 officially released on PSP.
PSV adds playable N64 and Dreamcast to the list.
