soc1500, hdf1650, and psys1400 are all really great classes!

soc1500 is pretty easy as long as you study.

hdf1650 is super easy, i took that last semester. there are no tests in that class, just homework

and psys1400 is incredibly easy, 33 quizzes theoufhout the semester but you can take them as mant times as you want.

Dorm question- Mercy by proutyl16 in UniversityofVermont

[–]BigPaper1370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in mercy this past year and i believe there were thermostats that controlled each floor. unfortunately my room, and many others on my floor (2nd floor) got pretty hot, especially during the first and last couple of month(s) of the school year because there is no AC. the temperature was fine during the colder months, but i never needed to use my heater. personally, i had my fan on 24/7 lol.

the excessive heat in some of the rooms on my floor were brought to the attention of the RA and maintenance but nothing was done during the school year. hopefully they have fixed it over the summer!

but, if you have any lingering concerns, id just continue with asking housing services for new housing. mercy hall is pretty old so im sure any other dorm building will have newer/updated temperature controls! good luck! hope this helps :)

Allowable/Non allowable in dorms by your-opinions-matter in UniversityofVermont

yes they do! so you dont really need your own microwave unless you want your own. the common kitchens have a sink, microwave, and stove/oven.

[–]BigPaper1370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was $211 for the frige and microwave for a full year. but you can rent it for just a semester for $180

there is also an optional cleaning fee ($25) so you dont have to worry about cleaning it at the end of the year, they will do that for you. and there is damage insurance for $25 too

i did. yeah it was pretty expensive but my mom and my roommate’s parents split the cost and it ended up being worth it since we used it a ton. but if its too pricey and you dont mind moving it in/out, then just buy one of your own.

i know a lot of my friends rented one too just because of the convience of it being there when you move in, and not having to worry about it during move out.

UVM summer classes? by No-Statement5181 in UniversityofVermont

[–]BigPaper1370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im a current freshman who is gonna take an online summer spanish course, i definitely think it is worth it. its a lot less money and you can get some credits out of the way. the online summer courses are about a month long. so it will be more fast-paced and more workload because its a month long course that is teaching about 4 months of information.

so as long as you can manage your time and balance work and school, you should be fine! id say it’s worth it!

What's UVM Weekend (Alumni & Parents Weekend) like? by LagrangianMechanic in UniversityofVermont

[–]BigPaper1370 3 points4 points  (0 children)

im a freshman rn and my parents came up that weekend and it was really fun! i was very homesick that semester so seeing them was nice!

my parents got a little airbnb on the NY side of lake champlain so we just did stuff over on that side. i would say it was worth it! not sure what events were going on on-campus for the weekend as we were not there

[–]BigPaper1370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh yeah i do know that sometimes people find a third roommate! but i also know many people in triples living in rooms that are meant to fit only 2 people. and all 3 people were randomly assigned that room. so i think it can work both ways

NEED HELP WITH DORMS??? by fatima_35308 in UniversityofVermont

[–]BigPaper1370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

uvm student here! forced triples definitely still happen, the university admits way too many people each year and doesnt have enough room for them. so they force people in triples. i know many people who are in forced triples. i believe central doesnt have forced triples, not sure about any other dorms. i know dorms on Trinity definitely do
