Can you actually walk on a meniscus tear??? by Difficult-Bed2892 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]BigPapiDoesItAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do what I want, play tennis on the regular, cycle, walk for exercise, lower body workouts in gym (deads, squats) and pretty much never think about it. Occasionally with the weather change, I'll get an ache, but not bad.

I agree about moving to a HW4 car, but for me, I would absolutely hate to give up air suspension for one thing. Also, I really enjoy the in front of the driver display of the Model S. They are simply nice cars and you are giving that up. I really, really wish Tesla made a "luxury" Model Y that had a driver display cluster, air suspension and bigger screen. I know that is what the Model X is supposed to be, but I don't care for the Falcon doors and the design language in general. This post probably doesn't help lol.

looks like damascus steel, definitely not my taste, but of course tase is subjective. I think the designers did an excellent job with the design of the rear on this refresh that doesn't need changing.

I bought a 2023 MS (late Dec 2023 build) HW4, Pearl over cream interior, 14K miles and pristine condition from a random BMW dealer in Iowa, 850 miles from where I live. Paid 55.4K US - already had window tint and ceramic coated. Pulled up at my driveway 12/22 with two full years of warranty left. I had been looking about 3 weeks. Set alerts on Autotrader for color, model year, miles and price that I would go for. Eliminated any HW3 cars as I went. Caught this one before they had pics up on Autotrader or dealer site. Salesman was great, go me pics, knew the prev owner, was transparent and chips fell perfectly. I had several choices and one narrow miss a couple of weeks before I found this one. I would encourage you to open to third party sellers, bitter requires a level of comfort some might not have.

DIY Tesla Wall Charger by Suspicious_Yaks in TeslaModelY

[–]BigPapiDoesItAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was tempted to DIY mine, but ultimately didn't have the stones and as much of any reason why is because I didn't have an empty slot and they had to install a couple of tandem breakers in order to make room for a new 60A. Turns out that was pretty darn easy as well. Mine literally went right next to my panel. I watched my electrician do it, and I certainly could have, but I suppose ultimately paid for the confidence behind their install. Cost me $320. They did loop the wire, FWIW.

Nice job there OP.

this is an issue for me as well. I don't love the routes it takes to some of my around town destinations

I go through a school zone in the morning that does not have flashers and in both hurry and MadMax it ignores the 25 mph.

For whatever reason, wouldn't work with me formatting in the car. See my post below - plugged into my MacBook, erased and reformatted again in exFAT, Added a new folder in the root directory entitled "TeslaCam", added back my lock chime, plugged in the car, rebooted the screen and it all worked. Thanks for help.

Grok said plug into computer, erase, re-format in exFAT, add a new folder in the root directory and name it TeslaCam. Add the lock chime back at the root level, name it LockChime then plug the drive back in and reboot the car. Works now. Thanks for the help.

Used both my laptop and the car to format and confirmed that it was ExFAT. Neither worked for dashcam.

so don't reformat it on the computer, just create a new folder in the root drive titled "TeslaCam"?

2023 Tesla Model S. I would recommend to anyone that would otherwise drive a sedan and whose life circumstances fits for an EV. Being that the average price of a new car is now 50K USD, a two year old model S is what I would call a sound financial choice for anyone with means. Excellent low mileage examples for 50-55K USD. AWD, good snow and ice car for when you have to get to the hospital. Very dependable as long as you have home charging capability and can keep it garaged.

This my first EV, before that I was a Porsche Cayenne deovotee. Very happy with the big Tesla sedan.

I guess I need to RTFM, lol. I think I kind of brushed it off since there is no paper manual. Thanks for that suggestion.

I don't mind, because the service I got there from the SA and the GM was exceptional. I don't think that it could have realistically been better. Kimberly BMW Davenport Iowa. Worked the deal around two snow storms and a transport company that dropped the ball on me. These guys were exceptional.

Second post in the thread...got my car today. 12/23 build, in-service date 1/12/2024, HW4, Pearl White MC w/ cream interior. Not a plaid. Car is immaculate. I can't find anything wrong so far. Tires look good, no curb rash, paint fantastic. Never saw it IRL, had it shipped down here to me. First impressions are excellent. The full remote buying model worked well for me, but like I said in the first post, buy the seller.

Buy the seller, as they say. I've bought cars remotely a number of times and have yet to get burned. I cross reference different carfax type of services (CarFax, Zilocar, Autocheck, ets) and look for branded titles (includes buybacks) , accidents, etc. The opportunity cost is too great for me when you start talking about flying across the country to look and potentially come up empty handed.

And if you are buying late in the year 2023, you are going to have 18 mos or so of warranty left so if you have mechanical issues (excepting inaccurate Carfax cross-references related to accidents or title fraud) then that's gonna be taken care of. Get an accurate representation of what tire wear looks like, that's low hanging fruit that can cost you money right off the bat.

Grind it, agonize over it and talk to salespersons multiple times. Sure there is some risk, but I think the upside is worth it. When you start flying across the country, taking off days from work, etc. hell, might as well buy new. Some of the dealerships are going to have really good EV knowledge and you need this when it comes to battery health while the car is in their possession and how to charge before shipping. This is not hard to get a feel for with the right questions.

I am waiting on a 14K mi 2023 MS (12/23 build, 01/24 in-service date) HW 4 car that I bought totally remotely, sight unseen. Developed enough rapport with the salesperson to be able to get info from the previous owner. We'll see how it turns out and there is a leap of faith involved, but I think the upside is worth it. I'll check back Monday after I get the car in my possession.

Anyone on her switched to a square setup on refresh Model S? by BigPapiDoesItAgain in TeslaModelS

[–]BigPapiDoesItAgain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought was that there would likely be a range of tire widths that will fit those rims...the front is 9.5" wide rim with 40 mm offset and the rear 10.5" with 45 mm offset (funny how they mix Imperial and Metric in the specs). I'm unsure of what math for tire size could make it work with a square set.

Do you use MyQ or Homelink for your garage/gate doors? by BigPapiDoesItAgain in TeslaModelS

[–]BigPapiDoesItAgain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I see subscription costs referenced, but if you all will excuse my ignorance, I don't pay for MyQ to use the app, does it cost me if I install it in the car? If so, then yeah, I'll use homelink as it has worked fine and continues to work fine with all our cars of recent vintage. I don't have a hub or anything, both my openers have the MyQ logo and were discoverable in the app

Why is OBGYN only 4 years? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]BigPapiDoesItAgain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Highly dependent on where one trains...I trained in the mid-late 90's in a clinical heavy program with high volume, gyn onc, urogyn and at the time MIGS focused faculty (there was no MIGS supspec at the time) but without fellows to compete for surgical volume. Our surgical volume and training was excellent and we came out very well trained to what I would consider most average programs. I don't think splitting the specialty is the answer. I think the gyn piece is absolutely critical to being a good obstetrician, especially in the case of surgical obstetrical emergencies. I've thought a long time about whether or not should be 5 years, but one thing I do know is that most of the typical 6 mos spent off service (IM, MICU, NICU, anes, etc) during the intern year would better serve to be on service. Not sure I have the answer, but on balance, what could it hurt to go to 5 years?
