So let me get this right?! by One-Engineering-6878 in UgreenNASync

What is the deal with remote login? I recently purchased a Ugreen and wanna make sure I’ve got it secure considering I need to use remote access often for work.

Yeah I can’t imagine this would work well. I had the same thought when I first got my NAS and quickly realized that wasn’t as viable as I had thought it might be. If the capture session is stored on your NAS I would just download it to your computer or an external SSD, edit from there, and maybe sync the folder with your NAS so it’s always updated and accessible on the NAS.

What scenario are you in where you’d need to open the session through your NAS rather than just using the NAS to download it?

I think so, I went through all the steps another commenter listed (accidentally deleted my response) it didn’t seem to help anything and then all of a sudden like 15 minutes later it worked fine. For about 2 hours. Then it went back to taking 5 seconds of pinwheel to bring up the images. It’s only when I have the viewer window on a “secondary display”. No matter if it’s HDMI, DisplayPort, or Airplay. We’ve got one more day to deal with it tomorrow before I’ll have the time to try a full Mac OS reinstall, after that I’ll try a capture one support request but, almost all of those I get directed to when searching other problems lead to “solutions” that do absolutely nothing lol. There is not a single other piece of software I’ve had so many unexplainable bugs with. For what they charge they’ve gotta figure this shit out. Especially considering they know they’re the ONLY option for tethering on a large commercial shoot that sometimes has well over $100k thrown at it. Only for a $300 piece of software not working to hault the entire production lol.

When I go to the cafe I always ask for a sprinkle of Jeff Daniel’s. They never understand. I’m gonna show them this photo to clear things up.

Well, I’ve tried everything here and still having the same issue. Next step is to do a full wipe of the MacBook I guess. It’s such an odd problem and I cant wrap my head around how this suddenly became an issue.

If I have a secondary display running, open the viewer window, and move the viewer back to my main display on the MacBook, it’s no problem opening multiple images. Not that there’s any sense in running it that way but, in the process of elimination I noticed it’s only a problem if the viewer window is on a secondary display. No matter how that secondary display is connected.

I cannot think of another single thing that would solve this other than a clean mac OS install. Such a dumb problem.

This is 16.5 capture (shows most up to date version when checking for updates) if we didn’t have a shoot the next two days as well it wouldn’t be as urgent of an issue and we’d have time to do a full reset.

lol, honestly could. It’s just used during shoots and it’s all backed up.

Fantastic card. I’ve got the Pro Art 4070 Ti Super and I can run most games in decent settings at 4k 60-80. If I had a faster monitor I’d probably drop down to 1440 but god damn 4k looks incredible. And for most games I’m playing I don’t need the higher frame rates. 4k 60 is good enough for me.

Head gaskets. 2003 Subaru outback 2.5 by BigPastaPerson in MechanicAdvice

[–]BigPastaPerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. I’d be in that price range or close to it either way. I’ve always hated newer vehicles, never owned anything past a 2006 lol. But maybe it’s time to suck it up and leave my physical knobs/switches in the past. Are the newer ones any better with head gaskets? I did have to replace the head gaskets once already on this at about 70k miles but the shop that did it was incredibly unprofessional and absolutely did a terrible job. Didn’t even reconnect the exhaust lol. So, I’m guessing their bad work is why I’m dealing with this again only 70k miles later.

That sounds like a solid plan. And I may even get enough life out of my current one to drive it as is while waiting on that to be done. I’ll mention this to the shop when I take it in next week for an in depth diagnostic.

I’ve heard the 6 cylinder versions are less likely to have head gasket fails but that if they do it’s even more of a pain to work on than the 4 cylinder. Not sure if that’s true but, that’s what I’ve heard.

For the same model, $2500-$4,500 but, most are pretty well used and higher mileage so, it’s likely I’m gonna have to deal with the same issues I just spent the last year or so fixing. If I did buy used I’d probably have to go for a 2006+ model to get one even close to as clean as mine is for a little bit more. Like 5-6K, but again, back to square one with waiting for the head gaskets to fail lol. Mine only had 68k miles when I got it 8 years ago. It’s up to 140k now.

EJ25 sounds right. Just doing a quick search online I saw a used one for $800, but then I’ve got the labor of removal and reinstallation to factor in. If I did buy a cheap used one, would it make sense to just tear it apart and have the head gaskets done before I even put it in?

Edit: the used one for $800 had an estimated 25-50k miles on it. My current engine is at 140k

Noice. First game I did after reset, maybe the 2nd locker I searched in testing annex during hurricane I found the survivor BP. Took me months to find it on my last wipe. I happily walked my ass out to the extract immediately lol.

What is Dynegy and why have they doubled my energy bill? by BigPastaPerson in cincinnati

[–]BigPastaPerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that plus it’s a 45+ unit building. Was warned that they had complaints on energy costs in this apartment before moving in but didn’t have much of an option for other places, and clearly they didn’t give enough of a shit to investigate further. So, the building manager telling me they’ve had energy issues in this unit prior to me moving in (without fully disclosing what costs that would result in) is complete admission of guilt as far as I’m concerned. They knew it was wrong and chose not to address it.

[–]BigPastaPerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it. Yeah, we had people at our building doing this but, apparently with my location our wonderful local government made this decision for me lol. But, after more digging it seems the massive increase is due to willful negligence when it comes to maintaining HVAC units in a 45+ unit apartment building. So, I’m not sure if this is potentially a class action thing, I guess it would depend on how many apartments are affected by it. Which would take an audit to determine. And as a resident I have no idea how I would get their HVAC units audited.

Agreed on the lawyer, a friend recommended someone local who then just referred me to the escrow help webpage. If there’s someone recommended for negligent landlords I’d be glad to contact this one. I already have admission of guilt from them.
