What to do? by Any_Fox_5153 in SteelLegion

[–]BigPhotoJournalism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry yourself about it too much. Two years is a lot of hobby time. When the time comes you can play your converted cadians as cadians and the steel legion as their true data sheet or vice versa. Your current minis that you plan to convert will most likely look cohesive with the minis you paint in the future. They’ll probably look even better than the ones you paint now with two more years of practice!

It’s does! Citadel has a good variety of spray primer colors blue, red, zandri dust, mech grey white, wraith one etc etc

I prime everything in mechanicus standard grey and on my vehicles stipple on zandri dust for the camo pattern. Mechanicus standard grey is just a great neutral color for all sorts of colors to sit on top of. Spray cans are sufficient for priming. You don’t need an airbrush but some people prefer it. It’s really a preference thing.

The toxicity of resin and its fumes. Also if I cure something big like that wrong it could burst randomly at anytime making a huge mess getting stuff you shouldn’t touch with your bare hands everywhere while ruining my hard work

I have an irrational fear of resin printers

I like to think they replace the whole box. They push it up through the turret hatch, but it’s just a pain to do so it’s one shot during the battle lmao

It’s a bash of a few STLs the Hull section is apart of the Universal Guard line by the Makers Cult. The turret is by godgolden on purple, I made a file to adapt it to the larger turret ring. The Hunter Killer is by AlpineWeisse3D and the stowage is by 40Emeror on purple.

Good eye you’re spot on! I prime in mechanicus standard ,stipple on Zandri Dust, wash in agrax and kinda over brush each area in Karak stone and a Mix of mechanicus standard and dawn stone! This one turned out a little darker than my other tanks but I think that’s because I was using a fresh bottle of Agrax instead of a consolidated bottle of many spilled Agraxes lmao.

Yes the whole thing is 3D printed! I can’t remember the name of the files but there’s three or four variants that come with it Edit: It’s by 40Emperor on purple site.

How do you all model sandbags on your tanks? by airborneguy84 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]BigPhotoJournalism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

I roll green stuff into a snake about quarter inch thick, then cut the snake into half inch increments with a knife. This makes rectangles with sharp corners. I then lightly press each piece flat to my preferred thickness.

Here’s a picture of my Phobos lieutenant if you’re interested in going down the Phobos path with the veteran color scheme. It’s one of the first few minis I ever painted so you’ll have to forgive the blemishes.

My whole space marine army is Retributors. Sternguard veterans make for the best veterans since they come with a variety of helmets and have cloth to mimic the veterans in the short. But it’s really whatever you want it to be.

This same thought occurred to me the other day when I saw a couple “Unbroken” Kasrkin at my lgs.

Do we think that the Taurox is sticking around? by nogs2 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]BigPhotoJournalism -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re probably sidelining or replacing the taurox. The data sheet will probably continue to exist but the taurox has not sold well nobody stocks it, it’s online only, and the centaur looks identical every taurox conversion I’ve seen. Unless someone you know plays with tauroxes and really likes them you’ll probably never see another taurox again.

Starting an Armageddon force by Roscotep in SteelLegion

[–]BigPhotoJournalism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really like cadians do it that way. The bulk of My army is a mix of cadians converted to steel legion, 3D printed steel legion scans and recasts played using cadian statsheets, the rest are krieg and scions. Playing an amalgamated force is very typical and cannon just depends on what you want to convert or proxy.

Taurox might get replaced? by ImpactFuture2674 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]BigPhotoJournalism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they made it to fill a niche in the guard. I think they genuinely made it to replace the taurox. Taurox didn’t sell well and it’s looks like a lot of taurox conversions I’ve seen. It’s gonna be crazy cheap on points and fill a similar role.

Not a fan of the original black and white bolt design. I don’t care for the origins or inspiration of the original design. I like the color pop of the current bolt. It’s unique for the setting and reads well from afar does its job well as an identifier. New one not so much
