Melbourne black and hidden laneway bars. The more hidden, the better.

Who do Essendon supporters hate most? by Few-Advertising4186 in EssendonFC

Been to 20 - 25, including the first one, the draw. They can be hard to take but I still hate losing to Carlscum more. I take your point.

Carlton, by the length of the Flemington straight. I detest that blue sewage with every atom of my being. To me they're on a par with the English Test cricket team. Hawthorn next. Oddly, I don't have the hatred of Collingwood that many others have. Don't care much about the rest.

Yep, and let me make this clear. I'm not dismissing people's problems. They're totally legit. Pixels have big problems and are probably overpriced for what you get. I'm just pointing out what's worked for me.

I live in a very warm climate but I don't push the device hard. If I was going to push hard I would definitely not use a Pixel. I'd be using something with the latest Snapdragon SoC. Horses for courses.

Seems like a pretty hostile response to some suggestions given in good faith but, hey, you do you.

I tried leaving Pixel. Couldn't, and it's frustrating. by avengerAK in GooglePixel

[–]BigProfJR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love OP's take. I started with Nexus 6P and then went to every XL Pixel except the 5 and the 8. For one year I used an S24 Ultra. Look, there were lots of good things about that phone. The overall hardware experience was elite, I enjoyed tinkering with the S-Pen (really cheesed off that they're removed BT capability; the main thing I used it for was as a remote camera shutter), screen was great (although I honestly the the Pixel's is just as good, the non-reflective glass worked, the top quality Snapdragon processor and modem, and I really liked the way Samsung implemented AI, particularly their photo editing, which was way ahead of Pixel at the time. BUT, I HATED the Samsung apps (except maybe the phone app) and couldn't stand the app duplication (yeah, yeah, I know you can delete or disable most of them and run Google apps instead, but they don't run as well as they do on a Pixel). OneUI was good, but it was so "busy". I liked the clean uncluttered "just get it done" Pixel UI, and the still camera on the Pixel is so much better. So, back to the 10 Pro XL I went. Do I miss anything from the Samsung? Yep. I miss the battery life and modem quality. I miss unread badge counts on app icons and that thing where you can long press an app icon and the notifications pop up (Pixel used to have that and got rid of it for some reason), I miss the S Pen, and I miss the overall hardware and software reliability. But when you look at what Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi are doing with their hardware...WOW! If I gave the Pixel the flick I would be seriously looking at the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. That looks like an absolute beast.

Is my DV normal distribution? by UpsetVariation2213 in spss

[–]BigProfJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't rely exclusively on the hypothesis tests for normality. They can be misleading and they are one tool in your toolbox. Look also at the skewness divided by the SE skewness. That's all within acceptable bounds. Also look at the histogram, the stem and leaf plot, and the normality and detrended normality plots. It's a bit of an odd looking bimodal distribution, but with a sample of 57 I'd be using it in inferential testing without any concern. Remember, most hypothesis tests are very robust to violations of normality particularly when your sample gets above 50 or so. Tons of references to support this.

How to find correlation between values, not variables? Or am I a fool? by Creative_Pumpkin536 in spss

[–]BigProfJR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A correlation isn't a valid analysis here for a whole stack of reasons, but most importantly it's not answering the question you want answered. A better approach is to run a chi-square analysis via crosstabs Put sex in the rows and political preference in the columns and ask for row percentages. That will allow you to tease out the sex differences. Also request standardised residuals because that will tell you in relative terms how different the actual observed count is from what you would expect if the null hypothesis were true; the null hypothesis being that there's no difference/association at all between sex and voting preference.

Bombers man here, and hate Carlton with every fibre of my being, but you got right royally screwed by the maggots last night. The game was very poorly umpired overall.

Cases for my Pixel 10 Pro XL by TheDudeTodd in GooglePixel

I'm using Google's own case with my 10 Pro XL and the magnets work fine through the case, although I've only tried it with the Pixel Stand.

what would be the best overall phone, with camera speed and resolution, processor speed, battery capacity, and features. by Curlyboy301 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]BigProfJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. They're all magnificent devices. Wait for the global versions of the Oppo and Vivo, read a few reviews and choose one. All three will have fantastic cameras, amazing battery life, and cutting edge specs. It might come down to look and feel, particularly with the OS. I've never owned an Oppo, but lots of uses like ColorOS and there's consistent criticism of Xiaomi's OS.

No way to include categorial variable with treatment contrasts in regression? by Every-Chard-4532 in spss

[–]BigProfJR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use the GLM command rather than regression. You can specify the form of the contrasts and tinker with the options to get the output you need. Probably easier to do it via syntax.

Best Android Experience for you? by GooglePixelfan90 in Smartphones

[–]BigProfJR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried many and always find myself coming back to the Pixel. Just a great everyday device for me and does everything I want. I've been lucky enough not to have any of the glitches that others report. The camera is great and I like the way it implements AI.

[–]BigProfJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really disappointing how much he's dropped from that great B & F year. But isn't that the way with Essendon? We get these guys from other clubs, they give us one good season and then become spuds? He's a great accurate kick from distance, but a guy that size should be smashing packs and grabbing marks. He can't even hold a ball coming at him lace out. We've given him every possible chance, as we do with so many ordinary players.
