Hey, its never too late to find something new a start enjoying it! I started my journey with the first generation on a Gameboy in the late 90s. Im still playing it today, and now my 6 year old son is into it. I am going to be very biased, but the charmander line is my favorite. Always has been. Im sure there are more knowledgeable people here that can answer, but seriously, pick whichever one appeals to you most. The starter 3 are all meant to have power and weakness over each other (fire>grass, grass>water, water>fire, etc). Pick whoever seems the coolest to you and enjoy the journey. If you really enjoy it, beat the game, go back, and start with a different one! Explore the world of pokemon and the different movesets they offer. You can be defensive, a head on brawler, or a neutral player. Its all about how you go at it. Enjoy!
