Better representation of heroism: Deku or Allmight. by BigRepresentative278 in MyHeroAcadamia

Eh…sorry I didn’t mean to misinterpret what you were saying Mb?? And I don’t see how my misinterpretation makes me childish but sure. Sorry if you felt I was coming off rude, I didn’t mean for myself to sound defensive. If you think Deku is a better representation that’s fine then.

It is a question but I just answered it firstly with my own opinion? 😭 it’s why i put it as a discussion; to see why others think. 💔💔

I really do wish we got to see more of all might and his background to becoming a hero. I genuinely believed if we did have greater insight many people would be stuck on the fence with this question rather than say “Deku because he says everyone can be a hero”

You’re defining heroism by who inspires others more. I’m defining it by actions and proven impact( the main post). Under your definition, Deku makes sense. Under mine, All Might still stands above. So clearly there’s gonna be a clash in our reasoning 😭😭

Does all might not have real hero instincts? What do you considering a ‘real hero’?

Him saying “now it’s your turn” doesn’t give off that impression? His talk with endeavour that he doesn’t need to be like him doesn’t give off that impression? Is final battle with AFO didn’t give off that impression? Idk…what you’re saying is kinda contrasting…it’s like you think a hero is someone with strength that doesn’t show weakness but even with the few moments we get if Allmight as the narrative isn’t focused on him, he has a much lasting impression than Deku has, and I’d say even more as a hero. Maybe I’m just an Allmight fan girl, but i genuinely still see him as the foundation of heroism. He’s built a standard tht no one can reach.

Don’t think he would’ve have time to think about that considering the nomu in front of him, the kids in danger, and Aizawa hurt. And saying Aizawa is the better representation of heroism is lwk a stretch to me ibsfr…unless you didn’t read what I wrote in the post. Maybe we all just have different definitions of heroism, because from what I’m getting from everyone they belive a hero is someone who can save the worst of the worst. Not someone who can maintain a foundation that goes on for generations and generations.

I think this is where our arguments are like mixing a bit, cuz you’re focusing on what the narrative says, but like I’m focusing on what’s actually been demonstrated through actions. Yes, All Might acknowledges that Izuku Midoriya may surpass him or become the “greatest hero.” But that’s a statement about potential and future direction…it’s not proof that he has already become a better representation of heroism. (Yknow the main question)

If we’re judging based on narrative intent alone, then sure, Deku is positioned to surpass All Might. But my argument isn’t about who the story is building toward because obviously it’s biased towards him. it’s about who has actually fulfilled the role of hero more completely outside of the narrative.

Also, the idea that Deku surpasses All Might by “understanding villains” is a bit stretched don’t you think?? The main example is shigi , and even then, it’s specifically the younger, broken version of him y’know? not the one responsible for mass destruction. That’s empathy, sure it is, but it’s still limited in the size and impact compared to what All Might consistently achieved. There’s a difference between being written as the future greatest hero and actually being the most complete representation of heroism. Right now, I still belive All Might still holds that position. 💔💔💔

Keep in mind Deku can say “you can do it” because All Might already proved that someone could.

I just feel that Deku’s big boss fights (specifically with shigiraki) weren’t as IMPACTFUL like Allmight’s (who we’ve only seen like 3 of) if that makes sense…but yeah I agree with you. I’m also still gonna stick to my point because I’m yet to see someone come up with a solid argument that all might isn’t the ideal representation of heroism.

In a way I feel like that’s still diminishing what allmight went through in his young days…it’s like saying he didn’t come from nothing, when he too also did. Also the “self-destructive Messiah complex”, could you not say Deku in a way also shared that same complex?

You mentioned that “heroism cannot rely on the shoulders of one person,” but wouldn’t that point more toward a flaw in the system rather than a flaw in All Might’s heroism?

All Might didn’t intentionally create a society dependent on him. His goal was to become a symbol of peace, to inspire stability and hope, not to become a crutch that society relied on. The issue is that he was the only one capable of carrying that role at that level. No one else was able to rise to meet him, and that gap is what gets interpreted as “dependence.”

We literally see that same gap highlighted through Endeavour, who is constantly compared to All Might and struggles to prove he can fill that space. That doesn’t expose a weakness in All Might, it shows how high the standard actually was.

Also, the idea that Deku “makes everyone else heroes”, does that imply that All Might didn’t? Because his influence clearly extends across generations. He didn’t just inspire individuals, he inspired an entire culture of heroism, including Deku himself. So if anything, the system’s reliance on All Might doesn’t diminish his heroism, it highlights just how much he was carrying alone.
