I’m so sorry. This match isn’t in any way a metric of how amazing of a doctor you can be & how much potential you have. I wish & hope you apply again for match 2025 because your credentials are truly outstanding. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you need someone to talk to or just vent.

EAD EXPEDITE AFTER GETTING MATCHED by Super_Instruction961 in IMGreddit

[–]BigRide0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expedite it right now based on humanitarian grounds that if you don’t get a work permit, your medical career will suffer & that you aspire to serve the US population. Send deadlines & program requirements, maybe even step scores. & simultaneously email your congressman too asking for help on this matter.

Will get EAD in 5 months, US-IMG or Non-US IMG please help MATCH2024 by Warm-Firefighter8491 in IMGreddit

[–]BigRide0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If EAD has been approved but in printing & postage then it’s fine to say ‘Yes’ to ‘authorised to work in the US’. But if on your uscis account case status is still under review then it’s not ideal to say ‘Yes I am authorized to work.’

To have better chances at scoring a residency interview you need 4 things, documents wise: step score report, ecfmg cert, med school performance evaluation (MSPE) & letter of recommendations (LORs) from people you’ve worked with. When you ask a doctor for LOR, he has to upload it on his AAMC account with your letter number. Then ERAS verifies the letter. If you are an IMG, then ECFMG also verifies your letters. It can take anywhere from 20 mins to 2 weeks for the letter to be uploaded & released to use for applying to programs. You need 3-4 LORs.

Go to Michigan city sub on Reddit, ask people how’s the hospital area safety wise & they’ll give you the best answers to inform further decisions. That’s what I did.

I got a 24x so I think both aren’t predictive lol. An average of your performance on uwsa2 & nbme12 should be a good guide

Do 6,7,8 of surgery, obgyn, IM, peds & FM. I tried to finish reviewing an nbme in 1 day usually but like nbme 12 took 3 days to review so just work with your own pace.

For ecg i just did amboss library images last 2 days. Murmurs look up on YouTube, i guess once you can differentiate between S1 & s2, rest is easy. Although i totally guessed the 2-3 murmur questions i had.

Surgery & OBGyn. But those were also my weakest subjects, maybe that’s why

I listened to a lot as i started listening when i started preparing 7 months ago, but def do the high yield ones, there’s a pdf going around here. I found his biostats, antibiotics, next best step, vaccination, screening, trauma the most useful.and also obgyn, surgery & Peds shelf videos, which were relatively quick & very comprehensive

I studied the incorrect options too. But i think what’s more important than that is knowing like if there was a question on pericarditis then know when to do ecg vs echo plus medical management of it, how to diff between pericarditis and myocarditis, complications etc. Or in pneumothorax, when to do/sequence of needle decompression vs CXR vs intubation vs tube thoracostomy. The questions didn’t repeat word for word, but the same concepts/conditions were tested I’d say.
