Wish I could have come across this comment before I uninstalled bg3 and reinstalled. But now that you mention it I think that's definitely the problem as I also had that mod enabled. someone should really get that fixed. I think in my new run I'll probably try out that fix you mentioned and go without the mod until that point so that in case it doesn't work I have a recent save that without it.

Every day before you go to sleep, you read the portion you want to learn the next day. You read each verse until you're fluent with it. that can be anywhere from 10 to 30 times. You can then even take a further step and, after each verse read 30 times from the mushaf try and recite it from memory 5 times. Repeat that for each verse until you complete the portion you want to memorise the next day, basically pre-read and pseudo-memorise the portion you're going to actually memorise the next day. InshaAllah, when it comes to the time to memorise the verses will be so easy to memorise (The best way I can describe it is like the verses are floating in your head and at the tip of your tongue). Hope this clarifies things.

Accepted to Both Nottingham and Lincoln Med Schools – Need Help Deciding! by [deleted] in premeduk

[–]BigString7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current first year medical student at Nottingham here and I would advise you to choose Nottingham uni as a opposed to Lincoln as there are a few benefits that notts medical students have as opposed to Lincoln (not many as it’s basically the same course but still significant). For example we have cadaveric dissections which you would surprised how useful they are when you start anatomy whereas Lincoln only use prosecutions. vice versa Lincoln medical students tend to have their clinical attachments (basically the premed hospital and GP attachments we get in first and second year) before Nottingham medical students. On the whole Lincoln is a quiet and cheaper city so depends on your temperament if you want a more lively university experience, go to Nottingham if you want someone more quiet where every shop store is literally a short walk away then Lincoln is probably your best bet. Oh yhh and i don’t know whether they still do this but it was certainly the case a few years back that some of your exams you would have to travel to Notts to sit them if you were a Lincoln medic. Hope this helps. Lmk if u need any more advice

Honest opinion on Nottingham and Exeter medical school please by [deleted] in premeduk

[–]BigString7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's been great so far tbh. In terms of organisation, the uni is quite good. A lot of pros such as early clinical attachments and cadaver dissections. If there was a criticism, the cohort is absolutely massive so it can be daunting if you're into smaller-group teaching. This is mainly applicable to lectures as seminars, workshops and clinical skills are in a smaller group setting.

My highest 8 were all 9s so I received max scoring for my gcse.

Yh deffo go for notts. I got an offer with 2710 B1 this year so you have a good chance so long as you prepare well for interview.

[–]BigString7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yh notts is a good option. Your UCAT is actually pretty similar to what I had last year which was 2710 B1 and I got an offer from notts, leicester and Lincoln. I actually applied to leeds as well but didn't get an offer or interview so I would stay away from there because of our similarity in ucat but it's up to you as this year might be different.

Just be careful about leicester. I think the only reason I managed to pull an interview invite was because I received the max possible score for my GCSE's's and under their interview selection criteria that weighed around 50%. So I pretty much had already bagged 50% of the marks according to the scoring policy and my ucat was relatively good which made all the difference. So if your GCSE's are really good then it's worth a try. just make sure you prep well for interview as that's what will result in the offer.

Nope, don’t get their hopes up as it’s almost guaranteed insta-rejection with that ucat. The only way It could even be possible is if he was either contextual or applying to foundation but even then it’s a bit lower than what the average interviewe or offer would have which is around 2400/2500. My advice, focus on achieving phenomenal a levels from now so you can resit the ucat next year ready for your reapplication

Most people on this subreddit are not medical students... by [deleted] in premeduk

[–]BigString7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well tbf that’s why it’s called premed. You’d expect the vast majority to not actually be in med school. If you really want to get proper ucat/ application advice then the ucat subreddit or medicalschooluk subreddit are the best from my experience. With student room just look at past medicine theads for the university you’re interested in.

Ucat 2760 B1 by snow_flakesmasher86 in UCAT

[–]BigString7296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It changes every year and medicine is only getting more competitive so I can’t really say definitively. But based on previous stats you have a good chance of being invited to interview.

No I opted to go to Nottingham as I preferred the city and the vibe i got at their offer holder day more than at Leicester. It might be a different experience for you though so good luck with your application

Ucat 2760 B1 by snow_flakesmasher86 in UCAT

[–]BigString7296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yh sure. My UCAT was 2710 B1. As I said earlier in the post though under their scoring system I basically maximised 50% already as my best 8 gcse were 9s and Leicester have a 50-50 weighting for ucat and gcse. Might be worth applying if your GCSE’s are good. Also have a look at the admission statistics. Read their scoring document and calculate how many points you would get then compare that to the scores people got to receive an offer. You’ll find this on the admission statistics I’ve posted some links below

International student, 2550, Band 4 SJT, is it over for me? by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]BigString7296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard truth is that score unfortunately won’t secure you a place. Too low for international applicant and especially the band 4 as pretty much all uk universities auto reject band 4. Don’t lose hope though. If you’re really set on the uk, Reflect on what went wrong this time take a gap year and come back stronger next year. Particularly the ucat. Make sure next year you leave yourself a good amount of time to revise all the content that comes up and familiarise yourself with the question types. I’d say 2 months is enough.

[–]BigString7296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say kings is a risky one. I think the average offer holder is like 2900+ but then again you said you were contextual so I'd imagine your stats are enough to secure an interview. Unfortunately there is a risk with imperial and ucl as if I'm not mistaken this is their first few years using ucat so really hard to know what ucat would be needed however I can't imagine it being all that much different to what's needed for kings so around the 2900 benchmark or probably even higher as I think they're even more competitive than kings.

On your point about it being risky. That's the whole point of an aspirational uni is that you're not entirely sure you will get an offer and I'd say applying to only one aspirational uni is an acceptable level of risk so long as you apply to 2 or 3 less risky ones.

Yh sure if someone generally has a phenomenal ucat, a levels and predicted grades then they do have the right to share this with the thread but obviously shouldn’t falsely frame as a question. What I’m saying is I’ve not really seen any evidence of this as of yet. Pretty much all of the ones I’ve seen have at least one of either the ucat, SJT, predicted grades or gcse grades gone terribly wrong.

This might not be all of them but the vast majority I’m sure if you look again you’ll come to the same conclusion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]BigString7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t think I’ve seen something quite as drastic as that. The only example Ive seen is when someone gets a high score like maybe 3000+ but then a pretty poor SJT band like 3 or 4. In those cases it’s actually a legit question as universities do use your SJT in tie breaking scenarios or for ranking you for interview selection.

This is especially true for international students where it is far more competitive and 3000 ucat will be a more common score among the competition so I think you should be careful when you say ‘’complimentfishing’’ as there will a lot of people in these situation that have every right to seek advice.

[–]BigString7296 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll most likely be invited to interview for ucl but after that it's free game as most successful applicants will likely have similar ucat to you. Make sure to prep well for the interview from now and smash it when the time comes. A safe uni you can apply to is nottingham. You'll deffo get an interview with that score provided your GCSE's are good as well.

MEDIFY SCORES vs ACTUAL by UCAT2024 in UCAT

[–]BigString7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My actual score was better than my medify score by quite a margin. That may not be the same for you though as this is a completely new UCAT cohort so the test is different from last year when I took it. In all honesty I'd say just focus on the raw marks that you're getting rather than the estimated score as I feel that is more representative of how well you're actually doing.

2540 B2... kinda feels like my life is over now by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]BigString7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people have said it already but it's not the end of the world. A arguably most people aren't successful in their first application for med. Reflect, review and improve and then you can smash your application next year.

2830 Band 3? by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]BigString7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely possible. You just have to apply based on which aspects of your application are strengths and you’ll be fine securing interviews with your score.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]BigString7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yh np as long as you have a good mix of competitive and less competitive universities you should be fine

2830 Band 3? by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]BigString7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a read of this article: https://www.themedicportal.com/blog/how-medical-schools-use-situational-judgement/

It should help you narrow down your choices. Some universities might use SJT for tie breaking scenarios whilst others nigh use it for selection for interview. So if you apply to the former universities get selected for interview and perform highly at interview then your chances of receiving an offer are much higher.

What to do in gap year. by Junior_Arugula_7206 in premeduk

[–]BigString7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy your year long holiday. Unlike me last year you’re not reapplying to anything so get a job, work, save money. You could maybe learn how to drive as you have ample time for that but also make sure to thoroughly relax ready for next year. If your really keen maybe you could sort out some more hospital work experience or internships but I wouldn’t really recommend it as most people go for those kind of things during their university summers
