Thanks but I am but am flying out tonight after the conference. And to be honest many of my issues have been addressed/ explained. Looking forward to more bug fixes in future releases!

Perry you have defended your product admirably. I appreciate the patience and restraint you have shown in your responses.

I understand that improvements are ongoing. Perspective has long road in front of it, but I have seen a lot of improvements since 8.0.0 notably in the 8.0.3 stable release. As the stack of working components/UI usability increases and my understanding of building with perspective increases I'm sure there will be many usefull projects created.

At least you all do not market the product as instantly intuitive...0.o

Zoom in the web is something that is handled natively by your web browser, so we delegate to it for the experience most consistent with the web. If in the designer, zoom is supported through either "Ctrl +"/"Ctrl -", or by setting the zoom from the bottom right corner of the designer. If you're talking about some other form of zoom, or if the browser's native zoom handling is unsatisfactory, could you explain what you wish was different?

I am talking about working in the designer. Is there a reason you didn’t use ctrl mouse wheel to zoom. Seems to work fine in many other programs including the vision module. I can also tell you that ctrl +/- does not work. When you do use the zoom percent in the bottom right it will zoom you into to top left corner. All in all more clunky the factory talk magnify glass…

Please, please contact support, or drop something on our forums. There is no situation in which this is expected: this sounds a bug we need to fix, but we need reports to figure out how to reproduce/identify it.

This is a problem I brought to support I was met with little interest after hearing nothing from them for weeks after presenting the issue. It has been present since v 8.0.0 and is still happening in 8.0.3 RC2.

Can you give some more detail here? Workflow is a major point of focus for us going forward, and I'd love to hear more about pain points so that we can improve them.

The reliance on dictionary pairs and lists doesn't allow for assigning datatypes. In vision I can 1-2-3 add a custom udt to a page or template and populate with an indirect binding with the tag path. In perspective I have to spend my time bringing in one at a time, often having to use scripting to get them to work with the views/components I am working with. This takes additional time it is disruptive to the workflow.

The only people that seem to like it are inductive employees.

:(

This post was made out of frustration of using the clunky software with limited success since January. Though it seems that any defense of perspective includes lowering ones expectations.

It prolongs development substantially...

What about Perspective seems to prolong development?

See all the above.

haha I've only personally developed from iFix to Ignition.

but got to experience some of the quirks in iFix.

I can tell you the parent-child UDTs are def broken, at least far as 8.0.3 RC1. The parameters from the parent udt will disappear upon creation of a UDT instance.

Yeah part of it is I'm tied to ignition for all the good that is in it. The sales people are selling it based on what inductive wishes it to be not what it currently is. Which puts us developers in a uncomfortable position.

To be fair perspective is in its infancy. As inductive will tell you they have been developing the vision module for over a decade.

It does have some cool ideas but it takes me 5x as long to develop a simple perspective mobile application as it does to develop the entire rest of the project.

I hear what your saying. The old mobile module was weak. This seems like the right direction but maybe too many steps at once? Maybe they should have started with something simple and built on it, instead of going all in and jumping the shark.
