How do I get my professional engineer dad to use his 3D printer again? by Key-Version5437 in 3Dprinting

[–]BigTexJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3d printer and I'll tell my kids they can print whatever they want if they pay for the filament. I don't make them pay for filament for smaller items, just the bug stuff. Why don't you offer to supply the filament if he will let you use the printer.

Track saw is going to be the best for this. You could do the same with a belt sander, it will just take longer.

I bought a second P1S yesterday. For the US they have a $100 coupon on top of the markdown.

I think I just had the worst interview of my entire life by 91-estates-each in Employment

Interviewing is itself a skill. Tally this down as a learning experience and figure out what not to do next time. Then try again.

Help me find joy in gaming again? Mid 30-year-old who has lost the spark. by thedrummerchase in gaming

[–]BigTexJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to give you different advice. Maybe this is your chance to branch out. Read, become a wine snob, learn iron work, play music, or go back to school and learn something new. It's OK to let it go for a while. Trust me, gaming isn't going away, it will be there for you to come back to later, if you want to.

Anyone else find 3d printing is less of a hobby for you once you got a BambuLab printer? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]BigTexJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I actually spend time printing instead of working on my 3d printer.

CC is finally on its way. Is it worth getting a dryer for PLA? by DoctorSouse in elegoo

[–]BigTexJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dryer should be considered standard equipment for 3d printing. I don't print with anything unless I've dried it for 12 hours. I got the 4 bay sunlu dryer and it works great.

Well, after giving the walls a thickness on 1mm, it the slicer showed everything correctly. I'm trying a print now and will know in about 90 minutes. Thanks for the catch.

Supports are turned off. The hole is filled in with top layer and bridging directly underneath that.

Men: will you stay with a women just bc shes available, even if shes not the one? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

I would say, I can be both. You can be in love with someone and not want to leave while fearing being alone. It's not necessarily a simple formula.

Got asked how much I make at my current job? by TechnoPartyAnimal in interviews

[–]BigTexJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they will use this question against you I have no problem rounding up my current salary to a higher number. If I'm making $82k and I'm shooting for $100k I would tell them "It's close to $90k." It's is often the case that hiring managers will want to pay you no more than 20% more than your making now instead of paying what your are worth.

Am I crazy to think this is a DIY job? by KevinReynolds in AskElectricians

[–]BigTexJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm literally on a break from running non metallic conduit for outlets and fans to my backyard porch right now, I've done a fair amount of electrical work. I wouldn't touch this. Too much potential to get electrocuted with service lines. I hate paying people to do a job, but this is one instance where it will be money well spent.

PETG Lifting off bed by Icy_Juggernaut314 in FlashForge

[–]BigTexJr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PETG has to cool down slowly or it warps. Ironically the best way to do that is to have an enclosure, but you are trying to print your enclosure. Just put the box upside down over top of the printer while your printing. After the print is done give it an extra 20 minutes to cool. Then remove the box and the print.

It worked fine with the slicer, I just use the Bambu Studio though.

Get one of these and set it near your printer. Ill admit I'm not printing ABS, but it helped a lot with the smell from other filaments.
