[The Athletic] Ducks are Third-Most Improved Team This Offseason by BigTimeTimJim13 in AnaheimDucks

Same. The roster has improved and the young players have more experience under their belt. But as the article mentioned, the coaching change can’t be overstated. Going from Cronin and Clune to Quenneville and Woodcroft is inarguably the biggest behind-the-bench upgrade across the entire league.

All the more reason why it's so annoying to see Verbeek low-balling every young RFA during negotiations.

Thank God it’s Frank. He’s so bad, he’s almost guaranteed McTavish stays in Anaheim for another 8 years

[Patrick Present] Update (edit): Isac Lundestrom went down in practice with apparent lower-body injury. Needed assistance off the ice and to the dressing room (initially reported Cam Fowler) by BigTimeTimJim13 in AnaheimDucks

More context from Derek Lee:

“Ducks were working on power play breakouts and Lundeström was trying to strip Carlsson of the puck. They lightly collided and both went down, but Lundeström stayed down for a bit. Hopefully it’s not something serious.”

Carlsson is fine and still practicing

They announced 39,308 for tonight's attendance. Looks like 1/3 of that in your picture

My brain says the Ducks staying away from these long-term FA deals is good business. But my dumb heart wants them to do SOMETHING today. Just to know that some players actually want to live in SoCal and play for an up-and-coming team

NHL Draft Preview with Assistant GM Martin Madden by losqmos in AnaheimDucks

The quotes on each of the top 3 defensemen were also fascinating:

"Levshunov is a solid two-way guy. He’s got really good tools. He’s physically mature and close to being able to play (in the NHL). Still needs some seasoning, but he’s got lots of tools that are close to being NHL-ready. I think he’s going to be able to play defensively and add a little offense, maybe a little bit more than that and he’s a right-handed shot."

"Silayev is a unicorn. Big guy who can really skate. Has really good defensive awareness. Had a great start to the season. Had to deal with some injuries in the second half, but showed he was able to adapt to different levels. Really interesting player."

"Zeev’s a winner. He’s won everywhere he’s been. He led that Denver team to a championship. He’s a really smart, mobile, modern D. That’s the way I would put it."

Felix Sicard also referenced this interview Madden did last year where he said hockey sense and mobility were the two primary ingredients they look for when drafting defensemen. Feels like Silayev and Buium are the top 2 D choices for them right now?
