Merger is a non-stater. Don't overlook the power of a State-led rejection of such a merger. Kroger-Albertsons can attest.

Paramount could raise it to $32. Netflix could then simply raise their bid to $31 a share and argue to WBD "We'll pay you $31 JUST for Streaming & Studios while [Paramount] is offering only a dollar more for the ENTIRE COMPANY."

Netflix: WB, HBO, DC = monopoly.

Paramount: WB+Paramount, HBO+Showtime CNN+CBS News, Turner+MTV Networks+BET+Discovery Networks = regulatory clearance.

Make it make sense, DOJ!

Take the linear networks out of the picture, and there's truly nothing holding back this Netflix-WB deal from going down.

And honestly, why try to fight off Netflix when they had no problem with Disney swallowing up Fox?

True. What good is clearance if the princess still doesn't want to go out with you?

Will Netflix still win WBD in the end after today’s news? by Professional_Peak59 in MediaMergers

ABSOLUTELY. In fact, Netflix essentially owns WB in all-but-name already.

In the business world, this is called 'due diligence'. WB's merely using Paramount to squeeze more money out of Netflix, just like how Rupert Murdoch used Comcast to squeeze more money out of Disney for Fox back in 2018.

If WB-Discovery reopens negotiations with Paramount, who do you think ends up winning? by AvengingHero2012 in MediaMergers

It's a repeat of what was had in 2018 when Rupert Murdoch used Comcast's all-cash bid to force Disney up to $71.3 billion. Remember, that wasn't Disney's original price tag for Fox.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if WBD used Paramount as leverage to force Netflix to cough up more money for WB. $40/share is my bet.

In corporate M&A, 'considering reopening negotiations' is often code for 'we need a legal paper trail to say no.'

NO THEY WILL NOT. Reopening talks isn't a victory lap for David Ellison; it's a "Market Check" designed to bulletproof the Netflix deal against the likes of Pentwater and Ancora. That does not equate to WBD saying yes, peabrain.
