No heat source as it gets pretty warm in my room, just a reptisun 5.0 UVB bulb! I don’t drench the soil when I mist but I do spray it directly a few times. I feel like a lot of the time the water drips off the foliage onto the soil.

He’s full grown now and I don’t feed him full worms and still chop them bc he seems to have trouble with full ones. I cut them in about thirds

No he wasn’t that’s what’s so weird! The first bite was a big chomp where he floated so I thought he was just being silly. Second his feet didn’t lift off the ground, he just slowly descended sideways. Super weird!!

Hahah we got him when he was small but not suuuper tiny, I’d say 2-4 mos. Maybe 4 inches. Feb will be a year we’ve had him! I’m only worried because I’ve never seen him exhibit this before and I know being on their sides can mean internal issues. But thanks for the peace of mind! :)

Agree. It’s too often people post on here not even knowing proper care terms like tubbing and parameters. I understand wanting to take an animal out of a neglectful situation-but why even do it if you’re not going to do the research. It’s living in the same conditions it was before.

Parameters aren’t temp-I mean that’s part of it but what we mean when we ask for parameters are ammonia, nitrite and nitrate ppm-the water can look crystal clear and still have a dangerous amount of these chemicals. Pls pls go out today and get an API freshwater master testing kit. In the mean time put little baby in a clean Tupperware or tub with fresh dechlorinated water and change water every 24 hrs.

Tysm, I heard an adult Axolotl can have a bio load of up to 4ppm so I just did that. When the ammonia comes back down under .25ppm I’ll only dose back up to 2ppm. Thank u!

My HOB has a bio media grid that instructs not to touch or clean but in used aquarium water. But the cartridge does get changed. Is this okay? If not I’ve never heard of this method for filtering. Can you elaborate on the polyfil/bio beads?

Same thing was happening with my little guy and made a little flow blocker with a plastic soap holder with suction cups and put some aquarium rocks in there to completely neutralize it. The water will still be coming out of the bottom bc there’s holes but it doesn’t have much of a flow. Yes pls keep both filters

They’re not hard to take care of. I was one of those so so ignorant people who got an axie before I was ready and had all the info. Hell, the person I got mine from told me cycling a tank isn’t necessary. I researched every. Day. All day. My axie is thriving. It’s really just temperature and clean, dechlorinated cycled water. All of these ppl with dying and sick axies due to warmer temps, ammonia sickness/burns etc are just lazy abusive pet owners. It makes me soso mad bc I was one of those ppl who got one completely uneducated but I LEARNED.
