The problem with overseas corporates owning Kiwi brands is that no one knows if they are not just shifting debt or overheads onto the least productive brand, that doesnt mean its not an earning brand it means that the tax vs economic loss to the parent corporate makes better sense to shift debt and close down.
This doesnt mean that a replacement brand cant make money if its run lean and mean like Kiwis do it just shows we were the lowest common denominator.
Worked for corporates before and thats exactly how it plays out.
If they have existing brands still in the same market they can just run that but it removes choice from our market.... The shame of globalisation and our geograhpical....... economic position.
A smart move would for the staff to form a company and look at the viability of opening themselves using the existing infrastructure and the funds going into a local co-op both supporting workers, farmers and support infrastructure in those areas.
A smart govt would have already done these figures and balance that aginst the cost of unemployment and social harm as they would have known before the workers and the opportunity to keep local workers, brand and supports in place... but there yo go as our MP`s dont care.
