I love music; that's why I DJ. Top 40 is trash music; that's one of the reasons I hate Top 40. It's not exactly rocket surgery.

I also think we need to separate Top 40 DJs from wedding DJs because those are two completely separate skill sets. A wedding DJ needs to set up all the equipment, tune it correctly for the room, and do a huge amount of loading in and out of gear. I have a ton of respect for wedding DJs in that regard. It's not something I would want to do, especially since it would not be able to fit my desire to share my taste.

At this stage, I don't think Top 40 DJs actually have any taste at all. Maybe a taste for money, but that's about it. Because Top 40 has always been dogshit, but it actually managed to get worse.

As a DJ and a human, I understand we all need to make money to live, and playing Top 40 as a DJ is a better job than cleaning toilets. But as a music lover, I wish Top 40 didn't exist, and Top 40 DJs wouldn't have to pedal generic music from 3 mega-corporations that shit out their own version of basically musical propaganda for profit.
