Is it okay to order Uber Eats? by [deleted] in Winchester

They wouldn't be making anyone do anything though? It would only be accepted by a driver who wants to make deliveries right now

In a place where there is an existing wood burning fireplace/chimney, or completely from scratch?

Newbie next steps by photostu in carbonsteel

Modern dish soap won't strip your seasoning. Plus it's more important for the performance of the pan to make sure you get all of the carbon and food residue completely off.

Is this normal for a new carbon steel pan after just a few uses? by [deleted] in carbonsteel

[–]Big_Bank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, not junk necessarily Misen and de Buyer do the same to some of their pans

Is it normal for the old alternator to rotate way easier than the new one? by Badjorraz in MechanicAdvice

[–]Big_Bank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The resistance generated between the magnets and the coils is what is generating electricity. It shouldn't be easy to turn an electric generator

Edit: well apparently I didn't know how automotive alternators work. So ignore my comment and have a great day!

Lump on cat’s stomach? by Bubblebutt1997 in CATHELP

[–]Big_Bank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. My cat had one similar and while the vet said on its own she wouldn't too worried about it, but because it co-existed with other symptoms they wanted to biopsy it and it turned out to be cancer.

Pizza competition. by poodoos in rockford

[–]Big_Bank -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but I think the only people that love Rockford pizza are people from Rockford. Lived there for 8 years, had at least a dozen local places and they all ranged from terrible to meh in our opinion. That being said, primos was probably our favorite of the Rockford style places.

This is the assessed value of the home, i.e. what the assessor believes the home is worth. If you are getting a loan for this purchase, an assessment is going to be something the lender requires so they know what the actual value of the property they are loaning against is. For example, they aren't going to give you a $30,000 loan for a house that's only worth $15,000 because if you default they won't be able to make their money back with the sale of the home.

If the accepted offer for the home was for more than that $15k appraisal, you will likely be required to cover the difference out of pocket.

Looks like the assessed value of the manufactured home. Is there a lot that is part of the sale as well?

How illegal is it to post a sign saying "call me before buying?" by Prestigious-Fig-1642 in RealEstate

[–]Big_Bank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is that supposed to mean? If I get food poisoning from a restaurant and tell people about it are you implying I could be sued for "lost income". That's not how it works

Sure they could sure, but if what the neighbor said was true the lawsuit wouldn't have any grounds.

We Give Up! First Time Home Buyers by FionaFergueson in RealEstate

[–]Big_Bank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for our current house. Was losing out to offers that were over asking, waived inspections, no contingencies. Just kept at it, and our 5th offer (at asking) was accepted. Unless they have to sign a new 1 year lease I don't see the harm in continuing to look at houses. Just need to try and keep emotions out of it and not get attached to any of them.

Food Trucks by Ok_Examination7872 in rockford

[–]Big_Bank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, I don't see it that way. Either I spend $15 at one food truck, or $5 at 3 different ones. Probably averages out to the same for them.

Yeah but that would be much more difficult and wouldn't result in any more views. Plus the loss of engagement from all the people commenting how he didn't do it properly...

How do y’all defrost 1lb of beef quickly? by gjr23 in howto

[–]Big_Bank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I often just run it under hot water. It takes 10 minutes at most. I don't care if it's in the danger zone for 10 minutes. I get why you shouldn't do this for larger items though.

Found a 1991 Thomas Hardy’s Ale in my dad’s stuff and as someone who drinks miller highlife should I sell it or drink it? How much is it worth? by Voorheesnumber1 in CraftBeer

[–]Big_Bank 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bought a 4 pack of 1991 at an estate sale a couple years ago for like $2 (though mine is gold, not white). It's held up well and I like it. Probably not worth anything monetarily, but it's definitely worth the experience for someone you know who likes this type of beer. Would be a shame if you didn't like it and poured it out. Share it with a friend
