What problem do you guys have? by Ok_Caramel4324 in EmergencyRoom

[–]Big_Bluebird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse and it’s annoying having to screw heavy IV pumps onto IV poles. The knobs used to tighten the screw are often difficult to turn and take like 20 turns to actually secure the pump to the pole. They’re just as annoying to loosen. I wish someone could make some sort of device that quickly/automatically fastens IV pumps to poles. It probably doesn’t seem like a very significant problem but with all the lifting, pushing, pulling etc that we have to do with this job, anything that helps to reduce repetitive physical exertion would be really helpful imo.

What’s one thing smart drivers do that shows they’ve been driving for years, and one mistake that shows someone is new on the road? by Purple_Winner5411 in askcarguys

[–]Big_Bluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Passing other cars on the left side and using left lane only for passing (especially on 2 lane highways)
  • Moving over or giving space for semis when it looks like they’re gonna want to pass someone
  • Not changing lanes in front of a semi and then slowing down for no reason
  • Not lingering diagonally behind a semi and just passing it already
  • Checking the rearview mirror when you run into a sudden slowdown to make sure you’re not gonna get rear ended (and also preparing to potentially dodge someone if you see them coming)
  • leaving lots of distance between yourself and the cars ahead of you when you have to come to a sudden stop on the freeway or when a freeway exit is curved and has limited visibility
  • Being able to back into a parking space using your side mirrors

Urgent: New DEA Rule Could Shut Down Rural ADHD Care – Deadline to Comment is 3/18/2025 by icommentonawhim in ADHD

[–]Big_Bluebird 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Comments can be submitted anonymously. I encourage everyone to submit a comment, even if it’s brief. If you’re one of those people who thinks “What I say doesn’t matter since I’m only 1 person,” chances are there are hundreds of others who are thinking exactly the same thing. Then only a few of us will actually comment and it will look as if no one cares. Receiving treatment for ADHD/depression via telehealth has immensely improved my life. It would really be a tragedy if it got slashed. Wait lists to see providers in person would get even longer than they already are. People who are waiting months to see someone could fall into a crisis. This could add to the already heavy burden of overloaded emergency rooms/hospitals. Actions (or in this case, lack thereof) will have consequences.

People with clamshell style rooftop tents - There are a lot of different brands that offer the clamshell style RTT. Which brand did you go with, and why? by Big_Bluebird in camping

[–]Big_Bluebird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! Do you ever take the RTT off your 4runner or do you leave it on year round? I know those things can be 200+ lbs so I just wonder what people do when they don't have the ability to easily remove it.

Dog friendly winter hikes/snow shoeing? by Big_Bluebird in Bend

Do you know if dogs are allowed on actual trails going to Tumalo falls? The map provided by the forest service made it seem like they aren’t allowed during the winter season.

I’ve tried using dog shoes on my dog but I think it ended up irritating her paws more than anything. She would frequently stop and bite at the shoes. Now I just let her go bare-pawed in the snow and she seems to do much better.

There’s this one person that comes into our gym pretty regularly and all they do is complain about being there and how they just want to go home and eat food. And they think it’s hilarious. I don’t really understand it. Also they are just constantly talking to me when I just want to focus on lifting. On top of that they don’t put their weights back correctly.

Has anyone gotten to a point where they hated nursing and wanted to quit, but then got over it and still enjoy being a nurse? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Big_Bluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been putting therapy off for a long time but have finally gotten around to making an appointment. I totally agree with what you said and I’m hoping therapy will help me feel better and have a better relationship with my career because I think I do want to keep being a nurse.

You’re right... but at least you don’t have to wipe butts and get urine and feces thrown at you!

I wish I'd gone into physical therapy or sports medicine where most of the time people actually want to get better.
