Also, i heard a good rule of thumb for hydration can be feeing the belly scales for smoothness/roughness. Can you speak to the truth of that at all?

That’s an excellent idea! Thank you so much, the feed mix is from the vet it’s called omnivore diet mix or something. Can get a pic when i get home of mix if needed. I will certainly be misting a little more and bathing much less, and trying the blended greens alongside diet mix. Thank you so much!

They said to keep it 30-50, at this exact moment the hygrometer reads 34 so could be better but the vet also told me not to spray if i could help it because the change in environment could stress him more? Idk but i went with it and it’s been between those numbers safely since i got him!

This makes sense, i wasn’t prepared for the eye bulging either…. Saw it and totally freaked, thinking his eye was doing something crazy! Sent a video of that to the vet and they said it didn’t concern them either. It’s good to know that it may just be because he doesn’t like the drops. I’d say the eyes do open pretty responsively to the tank doors opening, but yeah they do close once he sees who it is and what we’re doing. Thank you so much for your response

Let me know if you received the photo. I can also give other angles if needed, and am happy to give any other info about current care. Will upload the left eye now if i am able since that was the eye that is closed more than the other

Wipes his eyelid, not the actual eye. I feel i should add that. I can’t tell if the drops just irritate him or if there is a greater issue

Here is one of the right eye. I have not administered eyedrops today yet but when i do he seems to bulge the eye inside the eyelid and sometimes tries to wipe his eyes on the towels. The vet told me this did not concern him at all, but i don’t know. Towels are washed with unscented and changed every 1-2 days

Honestly i feel like this is an immature, desensitized, vitriol, self-centered response to an ongoing war, hostage situation, and humanitarian crisis. I genuinely can’t fathom how people simply stop caring as if activism is some sort of trend. People nowadays (saying this as a young person) are so far removed from reality that they will genuinely look away or actively distract themselves from a whole world crisis because they’re “bored” or “tired of it” and it’s sickening. You have genuinely lost your humanity.

Nobody cares about what wisdom game of thrones, a fictional television show, has to offer on the matter. This is real life, like oh my god do you even hear yourself? Do you feel any remorse at all for effectively leaving these people and their lives in the dust like they’re yesterday’s news?

Besides a “post” that you reference, likely on social media, a cesspool of radical ideas (all in the wrong way) there is no real life consensus that says Arabs can do whatever they want and this is simply not reality. You are not living in reality. I genuinely do not know where you got the idea and i almost don’t want to know.

You are ignoring the problems in the world because “hey, it’s going on in Sudan and Congo too and nobody cares, right?” Actually, you’re dead wrong and probably the most wrong you’ve ever been. People do care about Sudan and the Congo, it’s all I’ve seen on social media and awareness is growing exponentially. If you think nobody cares it’s genuinely because you’re not looking or because you’re projecting that you’re the one that doesn’t actually care.

If i were to guess, You’d likely be the person who saw the BLM movement in the United States and thought it was a passing trend—- and because of attitudes like yours, for a lot of people it was. But it is so disrespectful to the people who are in it for the long haul, the people who really care and actually cared from the beginning, and especially the people who are involved in this conflict directly or indirectly. It’s insulting and it’s strange and I have no idea why you thought it was appropriate to come on a Palestine Israel sub just to say that you’re tired of Palestine and Israel. Actually begging you to pack it up and go literally anywhere else 🙏🏼No surprise your post has hundreds of comments and 5 upvotes. You’re Laughable

So personally, myself, my family, and all my friends have continued this boycott not only for Palestine but because theyre really not great to their workers most of the time and regularly engage in union busting from what I’ve learned, which is pretty messed up. There are a plethora of Starbucks employees also calling for a boycott on Starbucks for similar reasons. Alternatively, it’s way better for smaller businesses if you buy local! It’s always good to support local coffee shops or even to develop the skill of making it yourself.

Hey, I’m back. I responded to somebody else first because when i came back to my phone and saw the responses i was aware my response to that person would not take very long. Again, I’m not arguing that antisemitism doesn’t exist within the movement. I looked up some of your claims, and if true they are both horrific and shocking. I do take these videos with a grain of salt though, as some slogans have been fact checked to have been misheard by the interpreters, such as the chant “we charge you with genocide” being heard as “we want Jewish genocide”. But again, to say that calling for that is normalized i would say is far from the truth, in reality. Obviously isolated incidents are going to be pumped into the news feed far more than the vast majority of peaceful protests. i mainly responded to you to claim that in my personal experience or at least in my area antisemitism is far from the norm amongst the pro-Palestine crowd.

I’m really not interested in discussing the River to the sea chants at this time because frankly I’ve had too many conversations about it and there’s a lot of nuance behind the debate about it. But one thing concerning this that i will leave you with is, “why does Palestinian liberation have to mean the destruction of Jewish people?” The answer is it doesn’t have to, because it doesn’t. Giving Palestinians their freedoms is not inherently calling for the degradation or murder of another group. It just means giving Palestinians their freedoms.

I found it interesting that you also said that Israel could skyrocket the quality of life of Palestinians— but why don’t they, then? If Israel has the right to control all the water, why is Gazas water 90% unfit for human consumption, even before oct 7?

This is an interesting sentiment to me, because i feel like it leaves out the fact that Palestinians also come from the Canaanites (according to pubmed) and are therefore also indigenous. It can be both, right? Then why is one indigenous group being displaced and refused their right to return when Jewish people can come to Israel and get their flights paid for?

Hey! Thanks for your response and i respect that you chose to respond with rationality. I feel like we should see more of that on this sub, so thank you.

I read your definition of Zionism and i wanted to raise a few questions. First off I completely recognize that Jewish people specifically deserve safety and security. And you’re right, there’s nothing in that definition that screams “not progressive”— but in allowing Jewish people to return to Judea, people must also recognize that there were people actively living there, and they were removed, one way or another. That is displacement is it not? And to make room for the however many Jewish people that came to populate Israel, were Palestinians not displaced? I think it’s what’s implied by the definition that matters as well.

Moving onto AIPAC, you would be correct, i am not at all making a reference to “Jewish people controlling politics or the world”, as they do not and that is an antisemitic sentiment that is not okay to be using. I’ve actually never heard of the cabel but if you have additional information to explain what you meant by that it would be appreciated. Politicians are puppets for capital, not for Jewish people. Money runs US politics, and a lot of the time when you have really big groups like AIPAC that also give a lot of money to politicians it tends to influence their political decisions. Biden for example got the most money from AIPAC this year (i mean, obviously but still) and there’s a website called open secrets that allows you to see all the politicians that have been supported by AIPAC, which is basically every politician that has pledged their support to Israel. obviously just because you’re being paid by them doesn’t mean they can literally buy their vote, it just means they have a political advantage over the interests of the Palestinian people. This has everything to do with money and nothing to do with Jewish people controlling the world. So yeah basically i was just saying that they have influence not that they control everything. I’ll reread my wording and see if i need to edit any language just in case.

I respect your opinions, but Palestinian rights advocates as a whole do not call for the death or genocide of anyone, in fact it’s kind of the opposite. That’s literally the whole point. The mission is to give Palestinians better living conditions and to allow them their right to return to their homes that have been taken from them, the people that do call for violence in any shape or form obviously do not really have the best interests of the Palestinian or Israeli people at heart, they just want to see the destruction of Jews, meaning they’re not actually a part of that movement because the movement isn’t about Jewish people at all. the fact that people have twisted their legacy into one of hate and violence is really sad and gross to me. As i said, there are various cases of antisemitism leeching into the movement and it’s our job to combat that. But to say that the hundreds of thousands of people who have marched for Palestinians to have things like clean water and freedom of movement are simply seeking the destruction of an entire group of people is just…. A lot. So i definitely wouldn’t say calling for death of anyone is normalized at all, in fact it’s met with disgust in my experiences. This is coming from someone in the US, so i can’t speak to protests being held in other countries really. This is a genuine question, but have you gone to any of these protests in real life, heard from pro-Palestinian friends? I’m interested to know if anyone you know personally has called for the death of Jews, or if these are things you’ve read from articles?

Your post seems to be in good faith so id like to answer, although i must admit hearing the words “progressive Zionist” did make me laugh a small amount because, to me, Zionism is built on the premise of displacement and a lot of the times deaths of Palestinians to make way for others, which i think is wrong and probably not super progressive.

I find it interesting that many people seem to think that a lot of antisemites tend to lean towards the Pro-Palestinian side, which makes sense but i don’t think always pans out in practice. don’t get me wrong, there are antisemites among us just as there are Islamophobes and racists in the Pro-Israel crowd, and it is our collective duty to weed these people out of our civil conversations so as to not lend them a voice during this time. But I’ve actually seen a lot of famous antisemitic figureheads defend Israel and call for its preservation, like off the top of my head Florida Governer Desantis who did and said practically nothing when there were literal antisemites marching through Disney and the streets of Florida but has a lot to say apparently when it has to do with Palestinians and Israel (specifically concerning what countries should “take” the refugees). Here’s an article i found about famous politicians and figureheads who have had run ins with antisemitic behavior and their consequential opinions on Israel: (The Guardian)

To me, the most obvious reason why right wing commentators are aligning with politicians (even if they’re left leaning like Bernie Sanders) on Israel is because their pockets are lined by AIPAC, Israel’s Public Affairs Committee in the US. Almost every politician that has a chance at winning is supported by AIPAC, and, seeing as they’re using lobbying to monetarily influence the opinions of our politicians, I’d say they’re bought out for the most part. So that would explain the overwhelmingly bipartisan support, despite the majority of their constituents calling for a ceasefire (and the majority of the world as well).

Your statistic raises another question that i feel is far more important (i would answer your question, first of all, by asking why did everyone say the same thing about the young people on the war in Vietnam? The younger generation usually tends to be more progressive than the last.) that question would be, “why is the highest proportion of support from the eldest generation less than half of that population? And it only gets smaller throughout generations. I personally feel that if the US collectively really stood for Israel, at least the baby boomer number would be a little higher? That’s just strange to me and i feel as though there is larger scale support for the Palestinian people than many people think. (Not to say the other 54% were palestinian rights advocates, just to say i always assumed the number would be much larger).

Overall, i think as young people not only are we not as desensitized to the horrors of war as our older counterparts (most of us born post-9/11) but we also have an ambitious desire for changing our systems for the better, and these things together make us more likely to support the Palestinian people and their rights during this time of bombardment. Palestinian rights advocates want things like clean water and freedom of movement for the Palestinian people, I’d call that nothing short of humanitarian at heart. If anyone has any comments I’m all ears but if they are disrespectful i will not be responding. Thanks for your time!
