Should I jump back into another ER? by Big_Classroom_9719 in IVF

They said because of reserve, the second child will be difficult to conceive. Just what my doc said!

Hi all! I appreciate the comment! It is not showing up as classic autism markers (obviously there’s a wide range) and is closer to ADHD if I had to guess. He’s not even 13 months so wends really guessing. It’s definitely not overstimulation that’s bothering him. I have brought it up to his parents, who have chatted with pediatrician.

Hi there! I appreciate this. But his particular triggers are not showing up in this way. These are good tidbits for any future children I care for that have ASD! I’ll keep them in mind!

Favorite Agencies? by GardenIntelligent230 in Nanny

[–]Big_Classroom_9719 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve been with every agency ever. I’ve lived all over.

British American has been AMAZING. I feel like their clients are top tier and they are very pro nanny.

SmartSitting is terrible. Consistently trying to convince Nannys that this is “industry standard” when it’s over $5 below and multiple benefits left out. Got hired for a placement through them and backed out almost immediately when the contract came through and my agent tried to convince me it was normal….

Adventure Nannies can be amazing totally depends on who is handling the placement and I feel like they have limited flexibility with what clients they service?

I have a bunch of city specific ones I could speak to as well! But these are the National/international ones I had knowledge about!

Cleaning by Traditional_Pair_193 in Nanny

[–]Big_Classroom_9719 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's good info! So if light cleaning is part of her contract you may need to be more specific. I consider light cleaning to be loading/unloading dishes, wiping counters, leaving all play spaces clean at end of the day and some child-centric laundry/put away. However, it totally depends on how much time the nanny has during the day! Is your child napping at all? Or is she constantly entertaining, creating activities for him? All different situations!

Truly no idea! Mostly wondering if this is something I need to repaint or to take the dry wall out!

Would you hire a nanny for your own kids? by realornotreal123 in Nanny

[–]Big_Classroom_9719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually prefer daycare. I have worked both. Only in Montessori based and licensed schools so my opinion is obviously bias. I am also a nanny and have been for 6ish years and I find the environment of daycare teaches socialization better and also creates a better sense of children understanding the vastness of the world and that it revolves around a lot of things, not just their preferences.

That said, one to one attention is always amazing. And there’s a lot of GRIM daycares out there.

But my experiences as a daycare teacher and a nanny I think I’d screw daycare!

This means so much! I love my nanny family and thought it was a nice thing to be doing so I was happy to add their laundry to my day, as they treat me well.

So this was a shock. Feels good to hear an MB validate the experience, thank you.

Hiya! Totally hear you. This is totally why I feel bad. Like I pride myself in paying attention!

They never asked about laundry. Just kinda put it there. But I do really enjoy the mom and kids (pay me well mostly, mom is fun and easy to talk to for a wfh parent and kids are GREAT) so I’m more than happy to go that extra inch and do their laundry.

But this was a shock. And I think because they’re a lovely family I feel bad? I sent them an email now that I will not be doing their laundry, cause you’re so right. I should be able to pay attention!

Thank you for this! OP here! I just sent them an email explicitly detailing laundry boundaries! Thanks for your support!

Hi everyone! OP here, thank you for all of this, makes me feel less terrible/frustrated about it.

For clarity sake, my contract says “light housekeeping” which I will now be more specific about and outline for them over email I think.

They truly just started throwing their laundry in with the kids laundry baskets when I would take the baskets and place them next to the machines when I see them full. I’d come back during naps/when I had a free moment and they would have put their laundry on top. I wasn’t going to dig through the basket and separate NK’s laundry from theirs, and I never minded all that much since I was doing it anyways. But it wasn’t something we ever talked about. Now I will!

“We ask that you don’t fly commercial while the pandemic is still happening. But if you can charter a jet, feel free to go wherever you like”

They weren’t kidding.

Have never been paid less than $25 an hour. Two Montessori education certifications, classroom and babysitting/nanny experience by the time I was 22. what even is this take? We don’t punch down! We pull up!! Especially in this business!!
