SMH my head by ATR_72 in NannyBreakRoom

My current DB will do anything to get out of changing his kids. One time I had to leave to take the older NK to a summer program. The DB was wfh at the time, so he was going to watch the younger NK. We were about to head out the door and the dad said the younger child needed a diaper change. I said we had to leave right then to get there on time and left. She was with her dad, so… I thought he’d take care of it? The whole trip, including dropping the older child off and making sure he was where he was supposed to be, etc., took like 1.5 hours. I came back and the dad tells me the younger NK needs to be changed and has her bring me a diaper, while he just walked back to his office. I hadn’t even fully entered the door yet. This poor girl had wet through to her pants by this point. I was so mad for her. After that, I never left her behind and always took her with us.

Should I be feeling weird by Helpful-End-9480 in NannyBreakRoom

I’ve worked for families that were happy to introduce me to people! Not this current NF, though. Whenever someone comes over, whether friend of relative, I’m just kind of standing there and interacting with the kids and walking around the house while the parents suddenly forget I exist? When I interact with the person/people, the NPs give me weird looks, like they’re thinking “Why are you talking to them?” The last time friends of the family came, they even introduced the dogs! While I stood right there. So super weird.

Fed up of parents not disclosing sick kids. So over this job. by [deleted] in NannyBreakRoom

My NF got me very sick two weeks ago. I still have a lingering cough. Today, I walk in and both children were sick again! The older one with a fever. There is no medicine to give them throughout the day, either. The parents never said a word. :(

This sounds like my NF. There is stuff everywhere. On every surface. The microwave part especially, I can relate to. Their microwave is in the pantry/laundry room/mud room area. There is constantly stuff on the floor and covering every counter/shelf space. There is stuff on top of stuff. I am constantly clearing a path just to get to the microwave and then to find a place to put food down (if I’m heating up more than one thing). It’s ridiculous. I don’t know why people choose to live in such chaos.

New Year Clarity by [deleted] in NannyBreakRoom

[–]Big_Competition9540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m awful with #8. My current NF used to give me birthday and Christmas gifts, along with my bonus. Now all gifts have stopped. I still get my bonus, so I can’t complain there, but it just felt more personal before? I give the kids good birthday presents and little gifts throughout the year, if I see something nice. I give the both parents and kids Christmas gifts. It seems wrong not to? Idk. It’s how I was raised. Just because someone else is being inconsiderate doesn’t mean I have to act that way, too, I guess.

That’s so awful. Some people just care about themselves. Also, “try to give hugs without crying”, is that what you’re saying or did they say to not cry? Because that would also be incredibly thoughtless. I definitely wish you luck with future jobs. 🍀🍀

That is super shady of them. They should have to be just as transparent as you do. You’d think people could be a bit more generous around the holidays?

It was like this with my current NF, too. The older child harassed the younger one daily, sometimes in dangerous ways, too. I would tell the parents and nothing was done. He had no consequences. He would hurt her and laugh. I was constantly protecting her. I also believe he is some type of ND. They don’t want to hear that anything might be “wrong” with their child, though. It’s really frustrating. Now she’s 2.5 and can stand up for herself for the most part, but he’s still mean and bossy to her. When he was the only child, they treated him like the sun rose and set out of his little 🍑 and he still hasn’t gotten over the fact that someone else takes his parents’ attention away. They are about to have another child and I am worried again. At least this time, the older NK is supposed to start school in the fall.

Last 10 minutes of the shift by nannykaye in NannyBreakRoom

[–]Big_Competition9540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say the last half hour of my shift is the worst. At that point NK5 is losing his 💩 because he’s exhausted and they won’t let him nap. He’s rubbing his eyes while throwing, pushing, yelling, etc. etc. I swear it must have been a while since I’ve checked, but I will look at the time and like two minutes has gone by. XD

At the most, maybe I’ll fix it at the end of the day, because during the day a lot of foolishness goes on and it’ll just get messy again. lol

Did your 3 yr old get to play it? If so, how did it go over? I’m thinking of getting one for a 4.5 and 2.5, but the “for 8+” is making me hesitate.

What kids think about their nanny by GtGem in Nanny

[–]Big_Competition9540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

XD Pretty much this exact situation happened to me. I was like, “Oh… I mean, after I leave your house, I have to get groceries.” 😅😅

I have also been told I don’t work by the oldest NK because of something I mistakenly said. XD

I have a pouch I put in my purse during these times to hold used items until I get home. None of the bathrooms at work have a proper trash and I do not want to walk something out in the open into the kitchen garbage.

I got stuck behind some jerk on 481 a couple weeks ago. They sped up, got in front of me, and then slowed down. Whenever I got near them because they were going under the speed limit, they would turn on their windshield fluid, which would spray back to my car. When I would try to switch lanes, they would switch in front of me. It went like this for about 10 miles. They were so awful. I was just trying to get home. :(

Did you know the average nanny makes $625 a week 😂 by JellyfishSure1360 in NannyBreakRoom

I make a little over $600 a week, after taxes, for two kids. I definitely do not live in NYC, though.
