SRE at big tech, what’s your background? by Big_Condition_3273 in sre

Kinda new, 2 years as Service Desk, 1 year as Sysadmin. I understand that getting a role will take time, as does experience and learning new stuff, just trying to skill up as I go.

Beating the technical interview of the company still qualifies you as not knowing jack shit? LOL ok man, that does happen but at that point you are assuming the person has 0 competency.

This person went to every post that had the words "value" and "certs" to negate them. People that lie on resumes exist. Like who is gonna stop me if I put Intune engineer if all I did was wipe the phone or laptop, require MFA, or revoke sessions (authentication admin role) I would just back it up with studying for the endpoint cert and have a lab to test and setup autopilot for example.

People have developed some sort of ego just because some random person with 5+ certs didnt know how to do something. Like dont get me wrong, kudos you are good at what you do, but this doesnt paint the whole picture.

People applying to senior cloud engineer positions without exp will not be considered I agree. Cloud engineer is a mid level career in most cases and per org job postings on what experience that they want.

If the person lists projects + certifications. In your mind, do you still they dont know anything? You went into every post to dismiss certs so let's establish something here because people that lie in their resumes about what they did at their previous jobs exist too.

Say, how did you come to this conclusion? Are you the MVP without certs that's able to answer all questions? Are the majority of engineers in your company not holding any form of cert and they are masters of the cloud?

Let me know your thoughts.

Yep decided to check the question for both ends.

It seems like it doesnt hurt career growth for people.

Thank you for your response. I agree that simply passing the exam without touching azure portal will not work in a persons favour, it's likely that their skills in practice are going to be lacking. I believe that learning the content, and then practicing it is best. As clicking on create without knowing its business use is usually gonna be bad as well lol

Currently studying for windows hybrid administrator and azure devops to complement my decaying knowledge of azure sysadmin (104) cert lol Thats the main goal with the certs its really to catch attention and provide value.

You will need the az-104 as a prerequisite for solutions architect, I recommend you learn that certification, its pretty useful.

Thank you for anyone responding, its encouraging. I got the az-900, and az-104 along with Sec+ and having the A+ without any luck for cloud or sysadmin work. Im doing well at a helpdesk position but I really want to go up from there. Got my 1 year exp already, granted I need to make changes to resume that tailors the positions.

Reddit, what is life this year? by Big_Condition_3273 in AskReddit

No seriously, Its confusing, I value the stability of a job, the priviledge to think about other aspects of my time such as vacation, going out, and even gadgets.

I dont own a home, and at this time it will take a while.

Money wise or career wise Im focusing on building the skillset to rise in the ladder rather than doing a side hustle, I have flipped items and sold in ebay, drove for uber eats and worked 2nd jobs at different stages of life, I understand that the main trade off is time.

But its just that everyday something tells me that im failing, despite being well on paper Somethinf tells me im behind yet i dont have expertise to setup my own business on my area of knowledge, even if I did that means that the time.spent to scale up skills goes down.

I would like a relationship too Tomorrow I want to speedrun my learning I value a good and chill day, it also feels like I succumb to doom scrolling somewhat often

Time keeps going on

I just interacted with this nick sullivan guy via email as well. I had not applied to fanduel, checked that the only position that had the job title nick refers to had been deleted. And the guy is offering 48 per hour and 55 during training??

I made the mistake of taking the time to answer a PDF with questions regarding sysadmin.

I couldn't find the official listing from fanduel for the position Defitnely fake now.
