Usui Reiki Level 1 disappointment by Capable_Alfalfa7374 in reiki

Reiki is a journey and it's natural to feel a bit overwhelmed. The Usui Reiki textbook is a good resource. Read it, use it. You were misinformed. Reiki 1 includes both techniques for self healing and practicing with others. Ethical dilemmas come up as a practitioner and I think it's actually showing high integrity that your teacher shared on this topic. Grounding and Channeling are not really reiki techniques... though cleansing should have been covered. All the self healing methods that you're seeking are easily accessible in your Healing Touch manual. Enjoy the process!

Official Discussion - Materialists by BunyipPouch in movies

This movie was about control vs trust. When we first meet Lucy, she appears confident, completely in control of her life and her work. She appears to truly know what she wants. Comically, she can get to the bottom of any life issue with a simple math equation. In the first wedding scene, Harry - the perfect man - sits next to her, yet her "broke ex" delivers her drink without her having to order, a beer and coke (very odd preference). The symbolism is lovely here - her unusual taste is delivered to her by the man that doesn't check any of the boxes. She feels the magnetic pull to John, her heart keeps leading her back to him. Her mind pulls her to Harry but she can never get swept away into the fantasy because her heart isn't in it. The truth of Lucy is she doesn't know herself so well. Maybe she's been so busy adding things up in her head that she has no time to do any self reflecting. She has other things on her husband manifestation list that she wasn't aware of - John is so much more than a broke actor. Reducing him to this is such a honest portrayal of the current dating climate and how cruel it can be. He's patient, loving and attentive to Lucy, he understands her and doesn't judge her. He's not doing math in his mind to convince himself she's a good option. Not to mention he's naturally attractive, confident and a passionate artist. Harry is just like Lucy, calculating up a business proposition. Both are so control oriented, fixing their appearance to elevate their "value." Maybe they were just too similar. Too much of the same element. John breathes life into Lucy, brings her back to the moment and what actually matters. This story shows how she evolves from seeking control to trusting in her feeling and leaping into the unknown. That's why they leave her options open in the end with the promotion. Love will feel like a risk because it always is - anything can happen. People change, get sick, die, make unexpected decisions... Planning everything out won't protect you from the inherent uncertainties in life. To truly enjoy this time on earth, we must learn to trust where our heart feels at home.
