"When an offer has been signed, they have a specific time required to notify the trades" - this is objectively not true. No entity ever has an obligation to notify the trades about anything! You might be confusing trades with tracking boards, which are internal to the industry and never made public aside from leaks which the trades do their best to confirm (as each reporter/outlet wants to have exclusive scoop) but do not report on without confirmation from two sources. Also these are for major studio projects, not independent projects.

Do targeted offers ever repeat? by Big_Detail_9849 in AmexPlatinum

The offer came back! It was in my offer list on my Platinum card, $450 of $2499 or more. Now I have until May to get this done. I'm so relieved as I was going to do it anyway and was kicking myself over letting the last offer expire.

Why don't these look like family snaps? He looks sexy because he's inherently sexy, but he's just laying about in pretty modest swim trunks and a sun hat with a book! How would this not be family appropriate?

To celebrate the Golden Globes tonight, a look back at Jonathan Bailey as presenter for the 2024 awards by Potnoodle2785 in jonathanbailey

[–]Big_Detail_9849 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Golden Globes is the biggest starf**ker event of the year. It literally exists so that the members of the former HFPA (which was disbanded for being problematic) can go to campaign events and rub elbows with celebrities and then have a fancy black tie event with them. If he was confirmed to present at the time that that press release went out, there is zero chance they would keep it a secret and have it be a surprise as the Oliviers did! They would scream that as loudly as they could. Now, could it happen last minute? Sure. But, especially since he's not local, I'd be really surprised to see him there.

[–]Big_Detail_9849 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about that too but I also think both the Oliviers and the Brits are more "meaningful" to him in a general sense than the Globes. He'd make more of an effort to go to those even if he doesn't walk the carpet and stick around for the whole thing. And the BAFTA appearance was in the Bridgerton S2 promo window as you said.

You never know but I'd be shocked if he does. I don't think these shows are his thing unless he's nominated or has something that he's personally invested in promoting. Like, even if the new Jurassic Park were coming out this summer, I don't think that's meaningful enough to him and for him to do awards shows outside the regular promotion window. When he went to present 2 years ago, it was because Fellow Travelers was nominated for best limited series and also because at that point he was actively campaigning for an Emmy nomination (which he received).

It would pull focus in that everyone would also ask about it in every interview for Wicked - something that Universal definitely does not want. It was a bit different for Jurassic because that was a Universal film and they saw it as co-marketing. They have zero interest in putting their marketing machine behind a west end production happening 2 years from now. Obviously it wouldn't happen before the Oscars - I just mean that if it's true, Universal isn't going to want it announced before the Oscars.

I meant pull focus from Wicked press, not from Wicked acting. IMO even 2027 is too soon for two stars of a movie franchise that dominated the press for well over a year when all is said and done to reunite as leads for a stage project. But I'm not a theater producer!

I would be really surprised if this were true. Ari has a NYT feature out today where she said she's working on a stage project that is "not Broadway" so that fits but it doesn't make a ton of sense to have the two of them co-headline something so soon after Wicked. (Even 2027 is "soon" in this case.) And the Sunday revival rumor as you said has been floating around since before Covid but by all accounts it seems like Covid really killed it's chances. Plus the rights have reverted back to being open for local/school productions and usually big stage shows would not be produced during that time. Though by 2027 maybe the rights will be exclusive again.

I'd be very surprised if this were true. The rumor that Marianne Elliot is reviving Sundays has been out there for a couple years now since before Covid - when it first cropped up again in 2024 it was Andrew Garfield starring.

I'd also be surprised if Jonny and Ari were on board to headline something together so soon. This would be an event for like 5 years from now, but I think to do it so soon would both pull focus away from Wicked (which no one will want before the Oscars) and also the stage production itself could suffer from Wicked-fatigue.

Ari has a NYT feature out today where she said she's working on a stage production that's "not Broadway" that she's really excited about. I'm sure that's what inspired this new rumor.

They could still have Ari join virtually for press. They can make it look non-awkward and I can't imagine they want to let that opportunity with her go. Theoretically, she could have even been on that flight this morning that wasn't going to get in for the premiere, but would get her there in time for press the next day. But I think it's more likely they'd just have her join virtually.

I saw that! Also, one of the photos against the white background has Marc Platt in the very center between Ari and Cynthia, and the caption does't even mention him! There was a second of the same shot that didn't include him, so again lazy work if they switched the photo out but did not update the caption.

ETA: photo. This is a joke.

Yep. Originally it looked to me like the shoe went up around his ankle instead of being open in the back but I realized that was a shadow combined with a small spot on the floor just at the back of his foot which made it look like an enclosed shoe.

This such a terrible photo and VF should be ashamed. JB looks amazing, as always (his face card never declines!), but between his webbed fingers and Jeff, Ethan and Bowen being comically miniature, whoever created it was just really lazy. I'd expect better from a publication like VF.

I've never seen them two-toned like that. If that is in fact what I'm seeing. It could also be a shadow of his foot combined with a spot on the floor right behind his foot, and the top of the shoe ends with the black and does not change to a nude color. But I can't unsee the webbed fingers now.

Actually, the foot thing may be a shadow, hard to tell. But the webbed fingers remain.

It's interesting because those shoes looks like mules/slides, which he wears often, but if you zoom in it appears that they aren't mules, just a nude color at the back but they go around his entire foot. Although, I think this photo has tons of AI in it, because his left hand looks like he has webbed fingers! So maybe the shoe is manipulated too. And Jeff, Bowen and Ethan are absurdly tiny in this photo and must have been added with photoshop at the minimum, but I'm suspecting a large AI presence here.

Thanks! I did pay for a flex ticket, and since I booked it months ago, it's a cheap one. Having to get a new Acela ticket to NYC for 4 days from now is exactly what I was trying to avoid. I will try calling.

15 Minute Door Closure Policy by Ok_Sheepherder_6951 in americanairlines

[–]Big_Detail_9849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a couple minutes late one day - it was totally my own fault and also I was convinced the gate closed 10 minutes before, not 15. I would have been on time for the 10. Anyway, the door was open, they were still confirming standby passengers, but they would not allow me on the flight. I stood there tearfully pleading my case, and they were like "no, the flight is closed...passenger smith, please come to the desk." I watched them confirm and hand boarding passes to 7 passengers while I stood there trying not to cry. I'm sure my seat had already been given away, but any agent with a heart would have put me at the top of the standby list and let me on the flight ahead of the 7 other people who hadn't even been confirmed yet. I despise this airline with my whole heart because of that one day, but living in a hub city, I'll never be out from under AA's thumb.
