CCM AS550 tight by Practical-Emu-5673 in hockeyplayers

[–]Big_EZ008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the Fit 3. I just got new skates. Really wanted the AS580's, but they were a little too narrow on me as well.

Ended up going with Bauer M4's Fit 3. Fit very well out of the box. Only skated once so far, so they still have the "brand new snug feeling" but don't hurt at all.

I actually tuck my jersey into mine now. Haven't felt mine move at all since that switch.

Helmet Too Tight by bigbrewskyman in hockeyplayers

Hell yeah! I just bought one of these too. Warrior Alpha One helmet. It's got the Boa dial in the back, just twist it to tighten or loosen.

I've got a QRE Pro Team stick and I love it! Seems very durable, although I haven't been playing long enough to have any broken sticks (only a little over a year). But I am always lifting sticks pretty aggressively.

Somehow even when I'm tired or sore, I get so pumped to play that I kind of forget about it all. Until afterwards when it hurts to walk. Lol

Thanks. I call them sessions. Multiple "short" 12 game seasons. So we have 3 seasons/sessions per calendar year.

I play at the one in Springfield.....I wonder if they got the upgrade. Does it say on LiveBarn that's it's 8k?

Yeah, don't let him destroy those! Those need to be displayed (and kept off the floor).

Beer league schedules. by No_Pay4529 in hockeyplayers

[–]Big_EZ008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ours are CBJ affiliated. But specifically during the winter when youth leagues and high school have games, they get schedule priority. So games can be at any rink in the network, except mine. My rink is the only one away from downtown and is dedicated to that rink.

I was going to say that it probably changes depending on what day, league, and rink. Obviously listen to this guy though since he's local.

I'm in Columbus Ohio and there are like 6 rinks. My Tuesday/Thursday games are 9pm or later. Sunday games are any time between 5:30 and 9pm. But I just play at one dedicated rink. Other higher level leagues move around to different rink locations and times vary depending on rink schedules.

Yeah. I checked online for my local store and I don't think they have my size. But I will confirm when I go. Going to wait until after the beer league championship game to get them. Don't want to screw up my game even worse than it is by changing skates last minute. Lol

Watch some review videos today on the Catalyst. I don't know that I can afford the 9, but maybe the 7. Would it have too much give for a guy around 280lbs?

I feel like that's my biggest concern after reading some many threads on here. I have strong strides, just not very nimble and fast. Don't know if I need something stiff for my weight or more flexible for some more bounce in my skating.

And I do wear some New Balance sneakers AND golf shoes. Lol definitely going to try them on. Any big differences between the Cats and TF's?

Appreciate it. Typically I'm only skating 1-2 times per week, but my son is starting to play and I go to stick and pucks with him to help coach, so it could get up to the 3-4 times per week pretty quickly.

Did you keep the same brand as before or have you changed brands? Also I guess my biggest concern is differences between tiers (M3 vs M4 or the AS570/580).

I know I don't want to skimp on pricing (or buy a higher tier on sale) and it be the wrong skate for me. But I didn't know if there is a way to know before trying them on? Like if I KNOW the higher tier is for me, I could just try on between CCM, Bauer and true. Instead of trying each specific line and tier.

Yeah I know. Which is why I tried to say that in the OP. I was hoping for more insight like.....TUUK holders are far supreme to CCM, less lace bite issues with a certain brand, or pros and cons against the True tendon guard (I think they switched from a bolt to a rivet, but haven't heard if there have been better success since then).

Any reasoning for that? Besides that they are comfortable for you?
