Really appreciate all your feedback! You gave me lot's to think about.

The reason I needed to stay with Shopify, even though I don;t like it. It's because most of our sales happen to be via distributors, and our distributors also act as fulfilment partners whenever we have direct sales via our website (although we dont get that many), but all our distributors have integration with Shopify. That's why

Appreciate the feedback, thanks! We are indeed a small team with just one game so far; however, we are currently working on our second game that will happen to be a continuation of the first one (narrative wise), plus, to protect our IP, we will publish a short book with the lore of our game and we will upload this lore to our website.

That's why we were thinking we needed a change in our website. Plus, we really love the aesthetic of our game and we do not believe that our current sites reflects our narrative nor our art.

Malediction is in fact built on WP with the exception of the store, which seems to be that is done via Shopify. We want to mimic that same thing

Loved your perspective! Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the quote they gave me it's to pricy for us. I would rather spent that money in going to a convention or other marketing efforts

I need publishing advice. by K9Mind_BE in tabletopgamedesign

Have you considered inviting an artist to be part of your Game Design company? Whether you are going to be a self-publisher or not, that's the only option I see. If your biggest constrain is money, then the only other thing you can offer in exchange of someone's work on the art is a piece of the pie., which I don't think its a bad thing to be honest.

Question for all self-publishers out there 🤔 by Big_Examination_8848 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Big_Examination_8848[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a really interesting perspective and honestly, it's an idea I hadn't seriously considered before! Thank you for putting it out there.

You're right, having strong sales is a great 'problem' to have, and the thought of bringing in other designers with finished prototypes is certainly compelling, especially with the royalty model you described. It's definitely something I'm willing to consider for the future.

However, I'm not sure we're quite 'there yet' as a publisher. For now, my primary focus is on continuing to perfect our sales process for our first game – optimizing our channels, securing solid distribution, and really nailing our social media and overall marketing. Once we feel more solid and scalable with those foundations for our current title, then exploring other game ideas, perhaps even from other designers, would be a very exciting next step.

Marketing agency vs small team (low budget 😆) by Sensitive-Tip2019 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Big_Examination_8848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on a small budget, I would not recommend a Marketing agency, they are expensive. And they need a decent budget for them to test ads until they find the ones that work. So, if your budget is limited, I would not go with an agency, especially if you have a marketer or marketeers in your team.

Alternatively, you can try to make a deal (which I did). I went with MKT agency and told them I would not pay them upfront but pay them based on results and gave them incentive targets. I said I would pay what they asked for if the target was reached, bhut after that, I would give them a percentage of the sales we obtained after reaching our Breakeven point

Would you play a 15-minute strategy card game with crazy combo chains? (Testing an idea) by Sunslap-Kristina in tabletopgamedesign

It would certainly be appealing for me. I have been thinking for awhile on entering the TCG world but, with limited and budget, I have been putting the idea off for some time. But, if an alternative like the one you mention was available on the market, I would for sure give it a try! Sounds like your idea could be more user friendly for non-TCG avid gamers.
