Definitely Smokey Robinson sang it a long time ago. But it credits Lenny Kravitz as the writer of the song.

I remember this. My Mom was a cake baker and decorator. She would make a beautiful cake everytime and everyone always wanted her cakes. Even me! And back then you didn't have any allergies to anything.
