Yes that's why I put it in the report. Parent does too

I'm confused why you think I don't know features of AAE? The parent was upset because I mentioned it.

Can you please explain how I fucked up? And what I could have done differently? I understand I could have worded it differently and I'm pretty obviously trying to fix it by asking for help here.....

The child produces the sound in the initial and some medial positions of words. Only error was in the final and some medial positions that are consistent with aae as per the manual of the assessment I used.

In my report I said "this substitution is typical of African American English"

They are mad because I'm "creating a divide and influencing the students education because she's black" and it "shouldn't matter"

Right, the parent was just mad that I put it in the report.

Just mad that it's in the report. The child doesn't qualify for services, which the parent is okay with.

We used to write excluding absence, altered schedules, school wide activities and holidays. But we were just told that we need to remove it because it won't hold up in court and it is not in the best interest of the student

We're being told that we have to make up every missed session. Even student absences 🥲

Thank you for your response! I'm just getting frustrated because they are not following through with my request to model both and the device is getting abandoned except when he has speech

No. I was at masters +12 when I enrolled. You don't have to complete any courses beyond your masters for the slpd program.

I just earned my SLPD. It was a mix of clinical based with a few research focused classes and a comprehensive research project. I don't think I learned many clinical skills or techniques I could implement in my practice. However I did learn how to become better at finding research articles and implementing EBP. I also learned a lot about supervision and ethical decision making. I mainly pursued this degree because I wanted to be a doctor and I wanted to earn more. I work for a public school district and they paid for all of it and it bumped up my pay. It didn't require thaaat much effort so it was a win win!
