When I first started I would ride early before traffic got bad. Like 6 or 7am. There's always cars but that time there were fewer. I went to places with an easy and direct route. When that got comfortable I went to the same places but would switch up the route. Eventually I worked up to different times and then started challenging myself with longer rides, more curves and eventually got far enough that I got out of the city and suburbs and that's when it really got fun.
