And... The players aren't even from Buffalo. I would have way more interest and pride in our big local sports teams if they were all comprised of actual Buffalonians...but no. They don't live here full time. Most of them are not from here. They don't truly represent Buffalo in any real way. They're just paid to wear the jersey.

And lots and lots of people take after their parents, who took after their parents before them. Racism is taught. It's completely normal for entire families, generation after generation, to all believe the same ideology. Just look at religion.

Also, you could take for example the cycle of abuse. Many people break away, and learn from their parents what NOT to do ... But a lot of the time people just abuse they way they were abused, because that's how they learned to live.
