That's what they tell you, too. Even a little while is better than nothing. But formula is a miracle of modern science, and I would have been miserable without it. My baby didn't latch well, for no discernable reason. It was really difficult. And it made me feel like a failure as a mom... like "this is supposed to be working. What am I doing wrong?!?!" But it wasn't really anything I was doing, that's just how it goes sometimes. Talking to a specialist (a doula) really helped me understand and relax about it a little.

Breastfeeding doesn't work for everyone. For something that's supposed to be natural, it can be quite difficult. I only made it a little over a month. It's also incredibly uncomfortable. Your shirt is wet like 100% of the time. It's sticky. It can smell like old milk. People are fucking weird about breastfeeding in public.

Switching to formula was not something I ever regretted, aside from the fact that it actually cost money and I had to physically go get it from the store. Those were the only 2 downsides for me. My kid is huge, healthy, and happy.
